Welcome toTeam TalkMarch 2014

There are several things that mark the start of spring for me. The plethora ofpancake pictures that appear on my Facebook newsfeed, for example. The fact that I don’t wake up completely perplexed when my alarm sounds thinking surely it’s toodark to be anywhere near classified as morning. The cats strolling in at 6am for their breakfast aftera night on the tiles, as opposed to refusing to move from underneath the radiator where they’vebeen camped out since October. The garden starting to look far more colourful than it has in water-logged months.

However, the ultimate way I know that spring is here is when that first stranger smiles at me in thestreet or bobs their head to say hello for no other reason than it’s a little bit sunny. You may findthis statement a bit odd, if you’re from a smaller community where this is the norm, but it’s true! And it makes you feel amazing. So much so, that you, in turn, carry it on and smile at the nextperson and give them a courteous head bob too.

That smile from a total stranger can change your entire day. It’s a wonderfully contagious thing thishappiness malarkey. It’s also hugely powerful. Just think, if smiling at a stranger while passing canchange their day, how does your mood affect your customers, potential customers, teammembers or prospects?

It’s the simplest thing to do, but sadly the easiest thing not to do. We live in a fast-paced worldwhere your mind can be quickly distracted by things you need to do or things you think you shouldhave done, so it may not be top of your priority list – smiling at the people you pass. But, whowould you want to associate with – the person who gives you a genuine smile or the one wholooks like they’re in a world of their own?

Still not convinced? Ok, let’s look at it from a purely selfish perspective. You’ve heard the expression ‘grin and bear it’? Well, recent studies haveshown that a grin can help alleviate stress and help your physicalhealth. It also automatically makes you look younger, which isnever a bad thing! Who would have thought Bobby McFerrinwas such a lyrical genius!

So make the decision to be happy and smile, even if youdon’t feel like it. That one smile could change your mood, your health, your day and someone else’s day. Whathave you got to lose?

At this time of year, so many people are lookingto turn over a new leaf. Whether it’s movinghouse, redecorating, thinking of a summerholiday or leaving a stagnant job, now is theperfect time to get the opportunity out there.

Bronze Senior Executive, Andy Cooper recently asked onour Facebook page how people joined. Out of the 80responses received, warm market came in top with 21;newspaper advertising was next at 16; flyers brought in10; shop adverts 6; Internet advertising 5; prospect cards5; car ads 4; mail shot 3; Facebook 2; and Yellow Pages 1.

It goes to show that people join the business through allsorts of methods, but before you use any other method ofsponsoring, you need to exhaust your contact list. Contacteveryone you know and ask them. Don’t make thatdecision for them! Think of how you’ll feel if you bump intothem at a Kleeneze Showcase and they’ve joined someoneelse’s team!

We’re now building up a testimonial library on the DSA,which will be full of success stories that you can share outwith your prospects. We’ll be working on categorisingthem too, so you can find the story that will help you intargeting your recruitment.

Don’t forget, the international best-selling Go Pro by EricWorre is in every Starter Kit 1 now. It’s a simple 7-stepguide on how to master network marketing and is aninvaluable learning tool. You can order extra copies oncode 736376.

Once you get that skill-set sussed, it’s on to the excitingbusiness of creating your lifestyles without limits! Wehave a fantastic event lined up for Saturday 17 May at theReebok Stadium in Bolton. Our speakers are ready to offeryou advice on how to take control of your life with keyelements of planning, strategy and follow through. Ifyou’ve ever looked around the Network and some of thedream lifestyles our leaders are living and thought ‘whycan’t that be me?’ – the answer is it most certainly can!

There’s nothing to stop you and this unique event is set togive you everything you need to make your dream lifestylea reality.

Kleeneze may be able to give you a lifestyle without limits, but sadly we can’t give you this event without limitedtickets! We’re close to full capacity now, so make sure youbook your tickets and don’t miss out. Full details areavailable on the DSA.

Speaking of dream lifestyles, the race for Jamaica and theAutumn Destination is on! Very shortly, we’ll be taking ourqualifying Distributors on a trip like no other, aboard theAdventure of the Seas. Will you be joining us for the nextone? The criteria is out there, so if you haven’t started yet, speak to your Upline to find out what you need to do.These Destinations are amazing experiences and theopportunity for you to attend is there for you to take.

Everything is in its place now, so moving forward we canbuild the business we all want. As ever, it’s up to you.

FeatureWork life balance

We joined to change our lifestyle“While on holiday, we got talking to a couple who toldus about Kleeneze [Norman and Joanne Grundy]. Weweren’t really that interested at the time, but we had alot in common so added them on Facebook and kept intouch. When we got home, Joanne posted somethingwe’d left behind on to us, but also included a pack ofinformation about Kleeneze.

I work nights and I would love to come off them, so wehad a chat about it and asked Joanne to come round totell us more about it. Then we decided to give it a goand took up the instalment offer.

Both my husband and I work nights as generalassistants in Tescos, so we don’t get to see each othervery much. I also make celebratory cakes and I’m aspokesperson for the building we live in - we have a lotgoing on! At the moment, I spend about 10 hours aweek on my Kleeneze business, but my best cheque hasbeen £1,200 and I’ve already completed my30 Day Challenge.

We have a two-year-old and a three-year-old. They’reboth in nursery 2-and-a-half days a week. I have to bevery organised, but it’s working out really well. The planis for me to get off nights and then hopefully myhusband will be able to get off nights too. My eldest willgo to school soon, so that will free me up to concentrateon it more.”

Beverley and Mark Johnson, Silver Distributors

What do you value the most?A recent conversation on our Facebook page showed that the majority of you value work/lifebalance over salary and you probably won’t be surprised to hear that this sentiment is echoed byover half of UK employees.

While job satisfaction ranked the highest in importance in ensuring happiness in a recent survey ofUK workers, just over a third ranked pay above all else. A further 31% said their colleagues werethe best thing about their work, while 28% rated working hours top of their list.

The question is: why should you have to compromise? Why shouldn’t you have it all – a careerthat offers flexibility, income AND happiness?

I was unhappy with my job“I started my first ever job at the age of 17. I joined thearmy at 19 and served my country proudly. I have beena security guard, prison officer, machine operator, warehouse operative, telesales advisor and aninsurance broker and I have never been happy or earnedwhat I felt I was worth.

I was sick to death of doing 50/60 hour weeks to scrapea living, but in May last year I found Kleeneze. Withinmy first four weeks, I earned £274 working 10 hours aweek from home around my two children – Ellie, 4, andGeorge, 2.

Steph was working full-time in insurance, but she wasunhappy in her job. The hours were long and her bosswasn’t very understanding about taking time off for ourchildren. She didn’t want me to join originally, becauseshe was sceptical about whether it would work. However, we needed the extra money, so startedhelping me retail around her job.

By October 2013, five months after we joined, we wereearning over £1,500 and knew it worked. Steph left herjob to help me full time in the business.

We had the goal of going Gold, which we achieved inNovember. We have also qualified for the Adventure ofthe Seas. Now we want to be Bronze Executives with50 active wide by end of the year with an incomeof £5,000!

We have moved up so quickly in the business and areoverwhelmed by the support that we receive on a dayto day basis.”

FeatureWork life balance

We love the time freedomthat we have“We joined Kleeneze five years ago after seeing anadvert for it at Doncaster Races. We needed to earn anextra £400 to pay the mortgage, as we had recentlystarted our own home-based travel agency, which cost£25,000 plus £600 monthly fees and we werestruggling to compete with the bigger companies andnot making any money. We really wanted to be our ownboss after I had been sacked from my job as a creditcontroller due to suffering from migraines. My partner,Pete, is a carer for his mentally handicapped sister.

In our first month we earned £367 just from putting out200 catalogues a week, so we could see the retail wasworking. So, in month 2 we increased the amount ofcatalogues we put out by an extra 100 and earned£560. We have continuously blanket dropped orknocked and presented the catalogues ever since andhave grown our customer base to the pointwhere on average we get around £3,000 -£3,500 personal retail ourselves.

We now earn more in a month than I did inmy full-time job and love the time freedomthat we have. We closed the travel agencyafter just a few months of joining Kleeneze,as we could see that our future lies with thisfantastic business.”

Named after the crescent-shaped two-mile privatebeach, Half Moon, this is considered one of the world’sgreat resort hotels. And if the 400 acres of landscapednatural beauty, equestrian centre, private dolphinlagoon, multiple beaches, water sports and 18-holechampionship golf course wasn’t enough, you’ll also bestaying in luxury villas with your own butler and maid.

“This Destination iscustom-made forKleeneze. You are goingto be treated like royaltyin this incredible resort. It’s always difficult todescribe these incrediblelocations, but you willhave to take my word forit that this is going to bea luxury trip unlike anyother that you have ever experienced.

Destination 2015 – Montego Bay, Jamaica – is yours forthe taking. The criteria is there to inspire you to go onand build your business up to a stronger position thanever before and in turn qualify and join us at the HalfMoon Resort.

If you have any questions or need any guidanceregarding any part of the criteria, please email me [email protected].”

Maid in JamaicaYou may have heard qualifiers for other Destinations tell you how they were treated likeroyalty during their trip. Well, Kleeneze royalty just got a lot more extravagant as forDestination 2015 you will be staying at the same resort that the Queen stays at whenvisiting Jamaica; the same place Prince Harry requested when he visited and the sameplace the Jamaican Prime Minister brings visiting dignitaries to dine.

For some, it’s a goal they were never aiming for, but winning a trophy has come aboutthrough consistently building their business. On the way, they’ve qualified for Destinations, increased their income and strengthened their businesses.

We caught up with the winners of the Distributor Challenge Trophy and the Harry CrookTrophy to find out how they built their businesses and whether the trophies were an endgoal or simply recognition of how far they’ve come.

Ian and Sally WilliamsDistributor Challenge Trophy: awardedfor outstanding business development

How did it feel to win the trophy this year?

Winning the Distributor Challenge Trophy was extremelyexciting, but it was also a bit surreal. Sally and I havebeen to many Kleeneze conferences and we havealways wondered what it must be like to be invited onstage and presented with an award - well, now weknow! Of course it was a great thrill, but it was strangeto think it was actually us. That’s really the crucial point– our individual contribution to winning the trophy wasminiscule compared with the efforts of the team -overall, it was a team accolade!

Did you plan to win the cup?

Actually we didn’t plan to win the cup at all! It was onlyaround October last year that members of the FocusGroup kept telling Sally and me that we were in poleposition to win the trophy. And we still didn’t look at thetables after that! It may sound strange, but we simplydon’t concern ourselves with what other Distributors aredoing - it’s a possible distraction that we can dowithout. Our philosophy is this: mind your ownbusiness! In other words, our business goals are tofocus and work hard every day on what is achievablefor ourselves and our team members’.Nothing else matters.

Last year you moved 2 steps up the Sales Plan –what exactly did you do to make this happen?

Our view of sponsoring is akin to the old Wild West goldprospector - you spend a lot of time sifting throughrocks and pebbles in order to find gold nuggets; andSally and I found those gold nuggets in Karen and PeterHall and Keri and Mark Watters. We hit Bronze

Executive because good people worked hard, put intopractise the coaching and committed themselves toself-development. Sally and I take no credit for theefforts of others; all we can do is thank them deeply.

New Business Sales were instrumental in helpingyou achieve your trophy – can you tell us more aboutthis part of your business?

Let us be clear: new business sales is the lifeblood ofour operation and that of Kleeneze’s as a whole -without it, there is no growth; only stagnation. If there isone area in our business that Sally and I concentrate onmore than any other, it is recruitment. However, recruitment is simply not about signing people intoKleeneze; it’s also about mentoring, buildingrelationships and showing new people how to make themoney they need: retention is the key! But successfulsponsoring is not an easy thing to do: it’s hard work andsometimes it can be extremely frustrating (but then, weare dealing with people!). Sally and I simply believe thata sponsor has a duty to give every person he or shetakes on their best support and advice - no shortmeasures. People aren’t lumps of mud; you don’tjust throw them against a wall and hope some ofthem stick!

What goals do you have for this year?

Personally, if it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it! We willkeep on doing exactly what we did last year - the resultswill then take care of themselves. As for our team? Wehope it will be a BIG year! We really do have some greatpeople in the group and together we will continue towork hard, teach the right things, promote good habitsand pass on the correct methods. The past twelvemonths have been wonderful for us - now it’s time forsomeone else to have the limelight.

Obviously, you automatically qualify for the AutumnDestination. Are you excited about going on it?

Of course! And even though we don’t know thedestination, it doesn’t matter: Kleeneze treat theirDistributors like royalty wherever they go! And I shouldalso mention that we have qualified for the Adventure ofthe Seas - why would I want to mention this? Becauseit will be the first Kleeneze trip with a member of ourteam sharing it with us: Karen and Peter Hall. Thatmakes this trip truly exciting! Like I said: it’s time forsomeone else to have the limelight!

Marlene and Robert SomervilleHarry Crook Trophy: awarded foroutstanding business development

You’re relatively new to the business, having joinedin July 2012. Why did you start with Kleeneze?

Marlene was middle management and I was salesmanagement. I had a very good, well paid job, until thegovernment got involved and there wasn’t a jobavailable. I’ve been self-employed for a number of yearsso my pension is null and void really.

Forward thinking, I thought this job is coming to an end,I’m 60 next very soon, I’ve got nothing behind me and Ihonestly didn’t want to take another full-time job. So Istarted looking for part-time work. I saw an advert onthe Internet, phoned up and it was Neil Young.

Page 12: Team talk-issue-march-2014 kleeneze

12

InterviewTrophy winners 2013

I hadn’t heard of Kleeneze before. At the time, we wereabout to pay out £12,000 for a franchise, but they didn’tguarantee us any more success than Kleeneze at £180. Ithought, ok we’ll try this and if it doesn’t work, we’ll justput it down to £200-worth of experience.

What were your goals when you started?

All I wanted to know was about income when I initiallyspoke to Neil and he was very honest with me. Heasked me what I was looking for and I said £3,000 to£4,000 a month. I knew it wasn’t doable immediately, but I wanted to know if it was doable. Neil said yes –within 2 – 5 years.

You got off to a flying start. How did you do it?

We followed the system that we’ve been taught. Ourfirst cheque was £214 in a fortnight. I knew then that itworked, so we put some backbone into it. We put outan awful lot of catalogues for a couple of months tobuild that side of the business up and hit 15% and then18%. Then we started sponsoring. Six months later wewere Gold, so it took us 8 months in total.

So was winning this trophy a goal?

I don’t believe in setting sights that far forward. I try todo everything in bite-sized chunks and everything elsefollows. Our goal was to be in the top five of our group. We thought if we’re in the top five of that, our businessmust be going forward. Then we hit the top of thegroup. The next thing was to focus on Dubai. Once we’dqualified for that, we looked at the Harry Crook trophy.Winning a trophy suits me, because it signifies that mybusiness is going in the right direction and that I’mearning the right money.

Dubai was the first Destination you qualified for. Didit make you more determined to qualify for others?

Dubai exceeded all my expectations. I was stunned atthe treatment we received. I’m 59, I’ve walked the walkand talked the talk and I’ve never known anything like it.It’s the little things. You can have the grand dinners, stay

in the posh hotels, go up the world’s tallest building. Butto think our Distributors have to sit in the airport for afew hours now, so we’ll give them €30 each to getlunch – it’s these little things that make it incredible. What a company to be associated with.

We hear you use Skype as a training tool

If you want to be successful and be successful fast, dowhat I did in the early days and be all over your Uplinelike a rash! I used to phone Neil three or four times aday on Skype and he was always there for us.We have webinars, meetings and conferences andthese events are the glue that holds it all together. You’llalways have ups and downs, but it’s this that helps youcome to your senses.

What are your future goals?

We’ve got 15 in our team and now the Downline isstarting to develop, so it’s a good position to be in. Ournext goals is to achieve a £4,000 a month cheque bymy birthday in May. It’s an incredibly tough target, but ifwe reach £3,000 or £3,500 by then, it’s still not a failureand something we wouldn’t have reached if we hadn’thave set the target.

It’s not just new cars and holidays abroad that British households have been cutting backon. For some, paying for their children’s education has also seen a hit. Every year, since2008 when the current economic downturn took hold, British pupil numbers in privateschools fell.

Our StoryMartyn andSarah Harvey

Our Kleeneze income is payingfor our children’s education

One couple, Martyn and Sarah Harvey, are bucking thetrend, though, and are using their Kleeneze earnings inorder to see their children go to the independent privateschool, Rookwood in Hampshire.

Martyn, a senior electrical engineer, and Sarah, a formerlegal secretary and now stay-at-home mum joinedKleeneze in 2012. The couple now earn around £400 amonth working their business part-time and plungeevery penny into their children’s school fund.

“I’ve been in the electrical engineering industry for 31years now, but have always been a bit frustratedworking for someone else,” Martyn told us. “I wanted todo something different, but I could never put my fingeron what that was and didn’t know how to break out ofthe cycle.”

When Joshua, the couple’s first child, came along,Sarah decided to leave her job and become a stay-at-home mum. Then Amelia, their second child arrived, andMartyn and Sarah started thinking about schools andhow they were going to afford them.

“We didn’t want them to get lost in the crowd in a bigstate-run school,” explained Martyn. “I’m dyslexic and Iwas worried that if my children were too they wouldsuffer with it in larger school. Once Amelia was born,we started looking at my wages. I earn just over 45k ayear and we’ve got no mortgage, but still after livingexpenses, there’s not a lot left at the end of the month.

Martyn and Sarah Harvey

Page 19: Team talk-issue-march-2014 kleeneze

19

We looked into the option of Sarah going back to work, but after travelling expenses and childcare, it wasn’tworth it.”

Help came in the guise of Sarah’s sister, MarieSimmonds, an already established Kleeneze Distributor.Initially, for Joshua (now 5), they needed £650 a month. However, on top of fees come uniforms, trips, books andextra curricular activities, not mentioning having to saveup for Amelia (3 in August)

“We realised quickly we needed something to bring inthe extra money,” remembers Martyn. “We knew aboutKleeneze, through Sarah’s sister, but it hadn’t consideredit before. But when Marie came around and starteddoing a presentation, after 5 minutes I walked off. Shelooked at me as if to say ‘how rude’! The thing was, though, I didn’t have to listen to it, because they’re livingproof that the business works. They’re not in debt andthey’re living a great life! So we got started thatevening.”

At the beginning, it was really Sarah’s business, whileMartyn helped with sorting the books out. However, after attending a conference, he realised the enormity ofwhat he had found.

“I was sat in the crowd and it was at that moment Iknew that I’d found what I was looking for. I realisedwhat I could do for my family. Before we’d looked atschools, but it was at that point that I knew we couldsend him to Rookwood, the private school. At no othertime have I been so excited about my life.

We’ve had a few setbacks and there’s been a massivelearning curve, but we’re in it for the long haul now. Wecan see the big picture. You see all these peoplestruggling for money and you think, if only you could seewhat I can see.

It’s brought me and Sarah closer together. We’ve gotthis fantastic goal of changing our children’s lives. If wechange their lives, it’s going to have a knock-on effecton their children and their children’s children and Iwasn’t able to do that with that. It’s given us ourdreams back.”

“If you discovered a diamond mine, who would be the first people youtold about it? Friends and familyor strangers?

Networking is the most naturalthing you can do and your warmmarket is the most important groupof people you can approach. Thepeople that you know, trust you, whereothers might not. It also works the otherway around – with people you know, you knowtheir work ethic and their track record, you know ifthey’re right for your team.

When I started off, I made a list of absolutely everyone Iknew without prejudging what they might say. Then I

spent two hours a day simply ringingeveryone. I routed around for phonenumbers for people I went to schoolwith, everyone. Some joined rightaway, others took years before theyjoined. Even Craig took 2 years to

join and then it was just for a bit ofbeer money!

Even if they do say no, leave the dooropen and ask if you can get back to them in

six months time to let them know how you’regetting on. I guarantee you, it will drive you to workharder than ever for those six months and prove it’sgoing to work!”

Jackie White, Distributor of the Year

It’s the most successful way to build your team and your profits. It is, ofcourse, warm market sponsoring. It’s the concept that Network Marketingwas built on. It’s free and simple and something you can do from day one.

So why aren’t people doing it?

Despite your warm market being made up of the people who you love and careabout the most in the world, those are the people that a lot of distributors arethe most nervous about reaching out to.

However, now is the time that you should be talking to your warm market. Let’sface it, conventional jobs just aren’t working for too many people in this dayand age. More and more people are struggling to make ends meet than everbefore and the people that said no to you last year, may have had theircircumstances change completely. Absolutely everyone in this business is thewarm market of someone, but perhaps their warm market didn’t contact them!

Are you using the verybest sponsoring method there is?

Page 21: Team talk-issue-march-2014 kleeneze

21

However you make the approach to your warm market – be it phone, face-to-face, email orFacebook - just make the approach! If you don’t approach your warm market, someone will.

Don’t think about it too much and don’t get emotionally attached the outcome. You might think to yourself: ‘why isn’t this working? I’m just trying tohelp this person earn some more money and make their lifebetter.’ STOP – move on.

Let go of your emotions and expectations and thenapproach your warm market. After all, if yousuggested an amazing restaurant they should go toand they said they didn’t fancy the type of food therejust now, would you be offended? Of course not!Maybe they will later.

However, how much would it smart if you see your warmmarket with someone else in the Network? And they’ll beannoyed too, because most will want to sign up with someonethey know and trust.

Make your warm list today and pick up that phone! You’ve nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
