• Programme to have all companies inspected (no later than the last five years) by the end of this year

• Then every 3 – 4 years

• The year end accounts pre tax deficit is £2,204

• Reserves stand at £39,342

• SpataShield has been a drain on resources this year

• Growing number of claims has put a greater strain on the premium to be paid

• Following consultation with members, the Bond was retained

• Risks to SPATA’s reputation may remain

• Do members want to stop using the scheme?

Legislation changes

• BS 8007 and BS 8110 now superseded by relevant parts of BS EN 1992 (Eurocodes)

• Building Regulations Part L

• European norms for commercial pools

• European norms for domestic pools being developed

• Water restrictions

Drought Issues

• TUB’s caused great distress this Spring and Summer

• Clarity had to be sought on aspects of the Code of Practice

• Water Efficiency CoP may need to be developed

SPATA Membership

• Currently stands at 176 members

• Challenge is to work towards a 5% annual increase for the next three years

• Finding VFM for non installer members

Finances

• SpataShield fees are not covering the premiums

• We need to find ways of generating new income streams

Workload

• Response times to member requirements are not always as prompt as they should be

• Resources can be stretched at key times, especially with new initiatives

• Time constraints can be exacerbated when disputes increase

Disputes

• Customers can be taken to court

• Members need to respond appropriately

• Mediation is available
