Come, Follow Me-For Primary: 2019 NewTestament

January 14-20; Luke 2; Matthew 2“We Have Come to Worship Him”

Younger ChildrenLesson Packet for Latter-day Saints by LovePrayTeach.com

Preparation:When preparing these lesson helps we follow the lesson outline closely. We will never vary from the

doctrine taught in the lesson outline. It is important that you always read through the lesson and all of

the suggested scriptures. Then read through the helps we have provided and pray about which activities

will be the most beneficial to your class. As always follow the guidance of the Spirit. The thing I love most

about the Come, Follow Me format is that it is designed for the kids to take an active role in their

learning. We have designed our lesson helps to help facilitate a lesson full of thought and discussion. In

your preparation be sure to leave time for the kids to share ideas, questions, and experiences!

You will only have 20 minutes to teach, so choose which part of the scriptures you'd like to teach and use

the activities below to help you.

The Nativity:You can use this Nativity to hang on the board! Let the children

each choose a piece and talk about it as they put it on the board.

Help them teach the rest of the class about their piece and what

involvement they had in the nativity.

Gifts to Jesus Activity:The lesson suggests bringing wrapped objects to represent things we can give to Jesus. If you have

already put away all of your Christmas wrapping supplies, you can use these instead! Print and cut out as

many gifts as you'd like. I have included 8 ideas that you can print on the back, but you can come up with

more if you'd like!

Show the children the images of the 3 gifts the wisemen

brought. Talk about how pretty they are and how expensive

they were in Jesus' time. Then hang up the gift boxes on the

board. Talk to the children about gifts they can give Jesus. Let

each child come up and choose a gift. If they can't read yet,

help them read it to the class. Make sure to talk about each one

and how it is a gift to Jesus.

"Wisdom" and "Stature" Charades:Teach your children about when Jesus was a child and how he grew in wisdom and stature. Tell them they

can grow in wisdom and stature too! Have the children take turns picking a card and acting out the action

on the card. Help the children guess what it is!

Next Week's Reading Assignment:Give each child one of the handout's below as they leave the classroom. We will be including these each

week so use them however you'd like! You can have the children bring them back to class each Sunday or

give them to their parents for a fun activity during family scripture time that week! There is also a full page

handout included if you'd like to make them into a journal folder for the children.
