Come, Follow Me for Primary: February Week 4: Matthew 5; Luke 6 “Blessed Are Ye” YOUNGER CHILDREN Lesson Packet for Latter-day Saints by LovePrayTeach.com Preparation: When preparing these lesson helps we follow the lesson outline closely. We will never vary from the doctrine taught in the lesson outline. It is important that you always read through the lesson and all of the suggested scriptures. Then read through the helps we have provided and pray about which activities will be the most beneficial to your class. As always follow the guidance of the Spirit. The thing I love most about the Come, Follow Me format is that it is designed for the kids to take an active role in their learning. We have designed our lesson helps to help facilitate a lesson full of thought and discussion. In your preparation be sure to leave time for the kids to share ideas, questions, and experiences! You will only have 20 minutes to teach, so choose which part of the scriptures you'd like to teach and use the activities below to help you. I Can Be a Peacemaker Game Print and cut out all of the pieces. Glue or tape the happy and sad faces onto popsicle sticks or straws. Lay all of the cards face down and let the kids take turns picking a card. Read the card to them and let them decide if they should hold up the happy or sad face! A fun version would be to print enough faces for teams, then taping each card to the board and letting each team take a turn. www.LovePrayTeach.com

Preparation:When preparing these lesson helps we follow the lesson outline closely.

I Can Be a Peacemaker GamePrint and cut out all of the pieces. Glue or tape the happy and sad faces onto popsicle sticks or straws. Lay all

of the cards face down and let the kids take turns picking a card. Read the card to them and let them decide

if they should hold up the happy or sad face! A fun version would be to print enough faces for teams, then

taping each card to the board and letting each team take a turn.

Peace-Maker or Peace-Breaker GamePrint and cut out each word or phrase. Depending on the age of your class, you can either mix up the strips

of paper on the floor or hide them around the room for the kids to find. Let the kids decide if the action

written on the paper is what a peacemaker would do or if a peace-breaker would do it. (The peacemakers are

bolded)

HeartsThe lesson asks you to make hearts for the kids to hang around their

house this week. I suggest giving each of them a set of 4 (a whole

page), so that they can decorate them and hang them up in multiple

places this week!

Next Week's Reading Assignment:Give each child one of the handout's below as they leave the classroom. We will be including these each

week so use them however you'd like! You can have the children bring them back to class each Sunday or

give them to their parents for a fun activity during family scripture time that week! There is also a full page

handout included if you'd like to make them into a journal folder for the children.

You are quietly looking at a book when your sister comes over and

grabs the book out of your hands be-cause she wants to

read it. You get mad and grab it

back.

You go to the kitchen to get one of your favorite

cookies. Your brother runs to the cookie jar, takes the last

cookie, and eats it. You are angry and

yell at him.

You and your friend are

drawing pictures. She teases you for

coloring a tree purple. Your

feelings are hurt, and you call her a

mean name.

You’re playing at a park and a little boy pushes your sister down and

she falls and skins her knee. You go

and push the little boy down to ‘get

back at him’.

A big kid at school takes your seat at lunch and

laughs at you.

Your mom asks you to watch

your little sisters while she’s busy. So you go to their room and play

dolls with them.

Your baby sister wants your mom to read her a book

while making dinner. Your mom says no and your

sister starts crying. You tell your sister that

you’ll read to her.

You and your brother are

fighting over a toy that you both want to play with. You tell your brother you’re sorry and

go to find a different toy.

Your sibblings start fighting

and hitting each other. You step in and tell them to be nice to each other.
