The Bucegi Mountains: geographical information

The Bucegi Mountains are located in the eastern part of the Southern Carpathians.

We can see here short and steep cliffs. The Ialomita river springs here. “Omu” peak is the highest one in the Bucegi mountains. The flora that is found here is specific with forests of conifers and meadows. The fauna of this area is best represented by brown bears and deer. In cold waters that break through rocks we can find trout.

The tourist route to “Omu” Peak can start from Busten while watching the red triangle shaped sign to Diham cottage. Here, we can rest and have a meal. Then we head to Malaiesti Cottage the route offering us an impressive landscape.

Tourist Attractions to visit in Sinaia

The Peles castle is the best known attraction in Sinaia. It is a Neo-Renaissance one in the Bucegi Mountains on an existing medieval route linking Transilvanya and Wallachia, built between 1873 and 1914. Its innauguration was held in 1883. It was the summer residence of the former kings of Romania.
