The large Plaza de los Museos compound at the Plaza Morales contains two of the best art museums in Caracas - the Museo de Belles Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) and the Galeria de Arte Nacional (National Art Gallery). Together they house a massive collection of Venezuelan art works spanning the full spectrum of periods and styles. In this one site you can browse fine art, modern masters, crafts and folk art from the colonial era to the present day. Outside the museums is a lovely sculpture garden connected to the Parque Los Caobos.

The National Art Gallery (Galería de Arte Nacional; GAN) also known as Gallery of National Art is located in the Plaza Morelos area of Caracas, Venezuela. Opened in May 1976, the museum represents the best of Venezuelan art in its 11 galleries and neo-classical architectural style with natural settings of willow trees and pond. It is a reflection of the creativity of Carlos Raúl Villanueva who had the reputation as the best-known architects of Venezuela.

Born in Porlamar ( State of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela), Francisco Narvaez (1905-1982) developed an important artistic work during more than fifty years, creating for first time in the country an own sculptural language, associated to the national roots, yet praising and valuing the beauty of ethnic elements.
