Activities in R&D
DNICast 7th Framework Programme. Some innovative features
Improving satellite based DNI nowcastings by enhancing the connection between the satellite data and the NWP models which are used for the nowcasting of the clouds
Existing methods for calculation of DNI from information about clouds, aerosols, precipitable water etc will be evaluated and adapted to use NWP data as input
The spatiotemporal DNI variability will be estimated with a combined statistical analysis of satellite-based ground surface radiation estimates and ground measurements with a high spatial-resolution grid such as available at PSA
Plant modelling and nowcasting: coupling of the DNI nowcasting systems with CSP and CPV plant output models
