DESCRIPTION
Minetec in conjunction with the CSIRO (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/innovationchallenge/ict-winner-mark-hedley/story-fn9dkrp5-1226771365837#ooid=ZtZ2t0aDpxvetRzi7k8u4CwbjRhv7MPl ) developed a purpose built tracking solution that can track objects from either a group or a singular tag for the purpose of tracking and distance detection (collision avoidance) for the mining, rail and construction industry. The Technology has been awarded with various patents and international recognized science awards. The Tracking Technology has been commercially proven at a large scale in mining to deliver reliable accurate tracking of down to 10cm operating, to a line of Sight distance of 300m. The system can be configured to track/display nearby objects in a 360 deg radius using Minetec mobile client applications. The Trax+TagsII technology determines the position by the use of inertia movement calculations (acceleration and direction) and Time of Arrival (ToA) techniques from the signal generated from the nearby tags. These tags can be either fitted to people, vehicles or fixed objects. The technology can be used through a network for map positioning or completely standalone for radar style detection or distance measurements. The technology does not need any communication network such as radio or Wifi to operate allowing for a seamless, reliable standalone system. The Trax+TagsII software application can be installed in control rooms, tablet PCs and laptops. The software visualizes the environment in 3D and provides controls for zoom, highlighting, cropping, lookup/search tables and interacts directly with all of the software products with the Minetec suite. The system has the ability to be remotely monitored and configured for ease of maintenance and support. All components of the system are designed to withstand the harshest of environments, inter-operate with other third party products and be simple to use. The Ranging Capability of the Tags both track and navigate providing a peer-to-peer precision distance measurement function which provides precision distance measurement, concurrently, including all detected APs.
This positional information, in conjunction with AP and Wireless Tag unique IDs allows real time mapping of all Personnel, Vehicles and tagged equipment in underground and above ground environments.

The tags are actually micro-wireless, intelligent devices that actively participate in the Tracking and Tagging solution.
All personnel underground, open-pits or plants have active wireless devices incorporated into Cap-Lamp Battery packs underground or adaptions for above ground. Tag energy requirements are minimal, systems incorporating higher efficiency batteries (ex Lithium Polymer) and LED lighting is the preference to optimize the solution at all levels, although not a requirement. !Personnel Tags have a two-fold function; provide the capability to allow accurate location calculation and act as a communication platform for messaging and alerts. They may even be extended to provide biometrics from the wearer in emergency situations.
Attached wireless devices are battery powered and configured for a much more conservative communications activity without the risk of depleting battery resources during mine shifts.
INTELLIGENCE AT NODE & TAG LEVEL: PEOPLE SAFETY
The concept of the Personnel Tag may be applied to the tracking and identification of relocatable equipment underground as well as above ground. !Moving machinery Wireless Tags are similar in nature to Personnel Tags. However, vehicle battery systems are used and a vehicle may have multiple Tags mounted. Vehicle Tags are usually complimented with Vehicle Access Points which better facilitate underground wireless coverage as well as above ground congested applications and have the added benefit of providing on-board communications interfaces for EMS monitoring, Positional Awareness, Live Tracking, Job Allocation systems, amongst others.
!In-vehicle NODEs may be installed with LVs and buses to facilitate a special tracking function that dynamically identifies “who is in what vehicle”. In this feature, the tracking system automatically identifies the passengers and driver in the vehicle when they enter the vehicle & removes the association when they exit.

The Trax and Tags II ranging technologies is proven in large scale commercial applications to provide Tracking accuracy down to 10cm in its Standard Configuration mode, making it suitable for micro geo-fencing applications such as proximity infringement detection, security applications such as proximity infringement of critical asset through the operations; mining, beneficiation etc.
Vehicles fitted with NODE’s participate in the wireless network and act as wireless network “extenders” mitigating coverage interruption issues associated with moving equipment, providing further opportunity for live telemetry from equipment.
The The Trax and Tags II ranging technologies used provide down to single cm accuracy in its custom configuration mode, making it suitable for autonomous mining applications and other high precision and/or personnel safety applications.
The systems are designed to continue to operate when access to centralized server infrastructure is lost, retaining the safety/situational awareness capabilities without real time reliance on centralized IT systems. ETS System Overview
The ETS is a distributed control system providing spatial control over mobile mining plant via Industrial PCs and PLCs: !Minetec can support the ETS Project with the following enabling technologies: TraxTags HP: A ToA and INS based tracking solution to bolster the localisation systems required for reliable intersection alignment of machinery, and general spatial awareness in support of GNSS via an augmentation interface. TRAXTAGSII SHOVEL TRACKThe TraxTagsII solution Tracks a shovel arm, which takes as an example 120 tonnes of material from the mining face in its bucket and places it on a conveyor belt. The purpose of tracking is initially to alert the operator when approaching the operational movement limits of the arm, and secondly to automate the travel and dump cycle at maximum speed with the operator only performing a manual pickup of the dirt from the face. The TraxTagsII Shovel Track is used as the core technology with select modules added for Shovel specific interfaces.!Standalone position calculation in real time of :• Load to truck position• Bucket to loader and bucket to truck• Calculation of shovel angle/acceleration/tilt• third party interfaces for payload calculation and

TRAXTAGSII SHOVEL TRACK
The TraxTagsII Shovel Track is all about establishing known points in a dynamic and potentially semi mobile environment. When those known points are within the operational reach of the operating equipment; logic and automation can be applied to ensure a predictable and reproducible outcome. Regardless of a shovels dumping point being a conveyor or a truck, there is still an optimal point where the shovel should be releasing its contents. By using the ranging & tracking capabilities of the TraxTagsII units installed at strategic points on either the conveyor or the dump truck; logic controlling the shovel position can make decisions on the most efficient path from the pickup to the dump. !Humans are the most effective controller for picking up material, but suffer in consistency when tramming the shovel arm and dumping the material. TraxTagsII Shovel Track proposes that the human operator perform the pickup, then initiate an automated process to perform the tramming and dumping, with the
