The Sun is a daily tabloid newspaper published in the United

Kingdom and Ireland.

On 26 February 2012, The Sun on Sunday was launched to

replace the redundant News of the World, employing a number of

its former journalists.

The Sun was first published as a broadsheet on 15 September

1964 – with a logo featuring a glowing orange disc.

The rate of growth for the tabloid was slower than in July, when

it had a 3% rise on June. Year on year, the Sun was down 0.64%.

The Sun is the UK’s most successful and best loved newspaper, read by more than seven

million readers in the UK every day.

The sun had an average daily circulation of 2,409,811 copies in January 2013.

The editor of ‘the sun’ is David Dinsmore. Dinsmore grew up in Glasgow, and began

working for News International at the age of 22.

In 2004, Dinsmore became night edit or of The Sun, and in 2006, he was appointed editor

of the Scottish edition of the paper, serving until 2010.

David Dinsmore then became general manager of the paper in Scotland, then managing

editor in London, and director of operations for News International..
