POP/ R ‘n’ B

Why this genre?

When reading the brief, our group decided to chose the pop genre due to the idea of girl bands, however we liked the idea of a twist to the genre, thinking of this we decided to add the genre of R ‘n’ B to our song, ‘Scandalous’, originally sung by Mis-Teeq.

The ‘POP’ genre

Pop music is usually understood to be commercially recorded music, often oriented towards a youth market, usually consisting of relatively short, simple songs utilizing technological innovations to produce new variations on existing themes.

The ‘pop’ music genre consists of many artists and bands today in the 21st century such as: Girls Aloud, Britney Spears, Kesha, Leona Lewis, JLS, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Pink etc.

The ‘R ‘n’ B’ genre

Contemporary R&B is a music genre that combines elements of soul, hip hop and funk.

The genre of R ‘n’ B combines a variety of different music genres and is featured in many different types of songs, such as, ‘Rap’.

Due to this there are many artists/bands that use the R ‘n’ B genre such as, Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna, Pussycat Dolls, Usher, etc.
