A Powerful Weight-Loss ToolA Powerful Weight-Loss Tool
If you want to lose weight, a food journal could spell success. According to the National Weight Control Registry’s ongoing
research project, the majority of 3,000 people losing an average of 66 pounds and keeping it off for five years kept a food journal.
To get started on your own journal, you may want to begin by simply tracking a typical week of food choices. This will give you a
better handle on what you need to work on, such as problem times or circumstances that make it difficult to eat healthy.
Write down exactly when and where you ate, whom you were with and your mood while eating. Include special categories
you want to track, such as carbohydrates, fat or fiber content.
Watching your eating patterns can help you make adjustments and understand your dietary
needs better.
Studies show that keeping track of what you eat for even one day can help you make changes in
your diet. What do you have to lose?
