Helping People Stay Well
Society confirmed the link between smoking and lung cancer and has been working ever since to educate people about the dangers of tobacco de-normalizing its use with increased taxes and smoke-free
Helping People Stay Well
Lifesaving cancer screenings like the mammogram and the Pap test are common practice today due to the Society’s promotion. As a result, cervical cancer moved from the second leading cause of cancer death in women to the 13th and death rates from breast cancer are declining.
Helping People Stay Well
The Society builds public awareness about preventing cancer and detecting it early. Take the Health check, a five-minute online test, to find out which cancer screening tests are right for you based on your age, gender and family history
Helping People Get Well
• The Society’s call center fields about 3,000 calls per day, or 1 million calls each year from people across the country facing cancer. Online, 180 people visit the Society via cancer.org every 5 minutes.

• More than 31,700 cancer survivors, 14,400 teams, and 160,640 participants in the Mid-South took up the fight against cancer through Relay For Life last year.
In the past century, the Society has helped save lives by helping people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back against cancer. We have made more birthdays – more milestones with loved ones – possible.
In total, we’ve helped avert more than 650,000 cancer deaths just since the early 1990s – creating about 300 more birthdays each and every day.
