INTRODUCTION
• Did You Know the word “pizza” dates back over a thousand years—it was first mentioned in a Latin text written in southern Italy in 997 CE.
• And since then it has been a hot favorite among most of the people.
• Also Humans aren’t the only ones who love the taste of pizza: there’s even a mini pizza for dogs called the “Heaven Scent Pizza” made of flour, carrots, celery, and parmesan cheese.
• Pizza may have originated in Italy, but countries around the world have developed their own regional spins on the classic food.
HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF PIZZA
• The Pizza we know now is quite different from the Pizza when it was invented. The modern pizza was evolved from flatbread dishes in Naples, Italy in the 19th Century.
• Pizza, the word has its origins in the Latin word Pinsa which means flatbread.
• The first few popular ingredients for Pizza were tomatoes, cheese, herbs, olive oil etc.
• A famous episode made this flatbread even more popular. This incident involved the Margherita, the Queen of Italy who was served three pizza’s out of which she loved the last one resembling colors of the national flag and since then it was known as the Pizza Margherita.

NEAPOLITAN PIZZA• Known to be the original Italian creation and are further
divided into Marinara and Margherita Pizzas• Marinara is also known as tomato pie which got its name
due to lack of cheese in it.• The traditional pizza toppings of Marinara include Tomato,
Oregano, Garlic and extra Virgin Olive Oil.• Next comes the Margherita Pizza, named after the Queen
of Italy, this Pizza is made from fresh, non- processed ingredients.

DEEP DISH PIZZA• A deep dish style pizza, commonly called a Chicago deep
dish, is named for its founding location, Chicago, IL.• This pizza's deep ledge allows more room for piling high a
variety of toppings. Due to the pizza's thick design, it is usually filled 'upside down.
• A typical thing about this Pizza is that, it is specially eaten with a knife and fork to accommodate the large size and abundance of pizza toppings.
• Things to remember while baking this one are the ingredients cheese, meat, vegetables etc. crust should be golden brown or light crispy and oil and butter are must to create a chewy- crust.
NEW YORK – STYLE PIZZA• New York-style thin crust pizza is intentionally narrow so it
can be folded in half and eaten like a sandwich. The general rule for all thin crust pizzas is to keep everything sparse, including the crust thickness and layer of tomato sauce.
• All-purpose flour, bread flour, or any flour with a high concentration of wheat gluten are important ingredients for this one.
• A unique thing about this Pizza is that it cannot be replicated outside New York as the crust texture and flavor is because of the water’s acidity and hardness
SICILIAN PIZZA• The Sicilian Pizza is all about large quantities and is identified
by crust type and the traditional pizza topping combinations are tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.
• The shape of this Pizza can be easily recognized from its rectangular shape and square slices.
• An important baking suggestion for this one is that one should be gentle with the dough and try to keep any air bubbles, as they'll help create the fluffy texture.
• Apart from other pizza toppings dough, cheese and a lot of sauce are the most important ingredients
GOURMET PIZZA• Gourmet, or California-style, pizza is known for its unusual
ingredients. Often these types of pizza do not use traditional marinara sauce. Instead they use Alfredo sauce, olive oil, or no sauce at all.
• Due to their uniqueness, dessert and breakfast pizzas also fit under this category.
• Important Pizza Topping Combinations are Artichoke hearts, Bean sprouts, Caviar, Dandelion greens, Goat cheese , Shrimp etc.
