National Summit on Sustainable Water and Sanitation (NSSWS) was held on the 7-8 January 2016 at Sheraton Grand, Bengaluru which was jointly organized by CDD society and Nispana Innovative Platforms in association with the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation(MoDWS), Swachh Bharat (Urban & Gramin), and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB). The Summit was inaugurated by the Sri. U.T. Khader, Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka and spoke at the inaugural ceremony. He also visited the exhibition stalls and interacted with the speakers and delegates. Over 400 participants attended the summit from more than 65 plus of cities, towns and water & sanitation boards from all across India. The summit ran two parallel sessions with dedicated sessions for Rural and Urban participants.

The summit hosted more than 60+ speakers who presented 15+ case studies and joined in 13 interactive panel discussions. This brought out meaningful debates and deliberations. The summit was also an excellent platform for all the municipalities to interact, network, share, innovate and ideate. A special field trip was also arranged for interested participants.

The second day of the summit was blessed with the presence of the Sri. B.N. Manjunatha Reddy, the Worshipful Mayor of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, who interacted with different solution providers to understand the latest innovations in the market that can help in resolving the water and sanitation woes.

The summit concluded with a high note while setting huge expectation for the second edition in 2017. Furthermore, the proceedings of the summit will be shared to all relevant government and regulatory authorities and participants to implement the learning of this programme.
