Protea’s Path Redesigning the School to

Work Transition.

I don’t want to work for someone else.   I already have my own business but I’m scared that I won’t make

enough money so I need something in the interim to fall back on.   Shall I get a yoga certification to bridge the gap?   I don’t think I want to go to grad school – it’s just more money and

I don’t want to take the exam to get into grad school.   All I really want to do is film.   But, I don’t want to end up like Jai – talented but cannot find and/

or close on projects at 30 + years of age, living hand to mouth.   How do I pay of my school debt and start a business with little or

no resources?   The guys on the film won’t listen to me – they are childish.   I’m not ready to promote myself – only other people’s work.

Say

Call Liza to talk about the possibility of yoga training – a

bust!  Create a website for Protea.  Volunteer to produce/direct a student film.  Create a blog for the film  Create a FB page for the film  Get a job on campus to see how it is to work for another

organization.  Take outside courses in film production.  Create a party to introduce the company.  Get hired by dad with his film business meetings.

Do

She thinks she’s prepared enough but may be

humbled by reality  She has an independent spirit  A bit of arrogance/cockiness (smarter and more well

prepared than her wealthier friends for the “real” world)

Pretty good willingness to work  Has a hard time looking people in the eye  She’s got a good head on her shoulders  Distracted by a going-nowhere relationship

Think

She’s excited to get out of school  Tired of silly school work   School has been uninspiring – it’s all about memorizing

and not learning to think for yourself  Good thing she went to Waldorf   She can’t wait to get out into the world  Afraid to stand her ground  Has had great family support and would like to have

more  Resentful that her friends have had much more in the

financial realm  But, glad that she has more personal resources.

Feel

Protea needs a way to learn to sell/market herself because she is determined to have her own business

but is very shy.

Problem Statement

Ms. Protea is a brilliant, articulate, focused and creative rhetoric graduate with a great talent for writing. She is

a voracious reader, capable of penning her own interesting stories and using the appropriate, up-to-date

media to promote a project.

The Stakeholder

Protea needs more belief in herself and a way to

promote her talent.

Problem/Need

Protea needs to feel safe enough to stop letting people

take advantage of her and step into her power and blossom!
