K e r r an g !• This issue is part of a promo which includes

nine different front covers (one for each member of the band : Slipknot). It simply includes a close up of the band members face, there is little other information, because of how the main story takes up most of the space ! I really like this (these) covers because of how they are grabbing their audiences attention with different collectable issues.

• The main reason that someone is going to buy this magazine is for the shock value of the main image, the other story’s can wait in the corner !

• People who are influenced by the music within are most likely to buy the magazine as they would like to fond out about their favourite bands within the genre of rock, metal and (dare I say it) emo.

• The net circulation on average for kerrang is 43,253 per issue in the UK and other countries source: www.abc.org.uk.

Me t a l H A MME R• This cover is even more simple than the last, with only

Rammstien’s logo to show any indication of what lies within, in hope that it is recognisable enough for people to instinctively know what it is from a glance. The logo is being blow torched into a plate of metal which shows well the two main genre’s : industrial and metal.

• The main audience for a magazine like this would be a “metal head” who only just has the time to look at the pictures before he (or she) gets back to moshing !

• And yet again, we have more Slipknot, as they are insanely popular ! Again we have the majority of the page focused on the main story except for the sky line which is taken up with another close up of a band member (un-surprisingly).

• The net circulation for metal hammer is 46,004 which is remarkably similar to Kerrang’s, which would make sense seeing as they share the same genre, source : www.abc.org.uk.

N ME• There is a lot more going on in NME evidently. This

contrasts with Kerrang and Metal Hammer buy including a lot more cover lines on their front cover, also the genre has shifted from metal/rock to indie/rock. But it is similar in the fact that there is the one main image taking up most of the cover, which seems consistent with music magazines from my experience.

• I like the simplicity with the genre of music I like when it is put into magazine form. Where the main story grabs your attention, and keeps it as you fine other intresting content !

• New Music Express’s circulation is 40,948 per issue in and around the UK, which is surprisingly similar to the other two I have researched which goes to show that same genre = generally the same figures, source www.abc.org.uk.
