Marcel White Editor of Rising Starz magazine has a first ever interview with the ever Rising Star M.O.D which stands for a “Man Of DREAMZ”. Read on to hear this excited and so long awaited for interview.

Marcel: Nice to meet you erm is it M.O.D

M.O.D: Yh but just call me MO (laughs)

Marcel: (Laughs) Ok then Mo, how did singing in your life come about?

M,O.D: Well, I’ve been listening to music for years, I love music it takes me places that you will never think of . When it’s me and my music i’m zoned out i’m in my own world. All them times that i’ve been zoned out I sing, not realising that I could sing good. I didnt actually know if i could sing good or not but it didn’t matter to me i just loved music and i loved singing.

Marcel: So what age did you actually start singing to people or to an audi-ence?

M.O.D: I was aged 12 when i first sang to an audience. There was a open mic talent show at the com-munity centre around my area and my friends were telling me to go and sing, i was obviously nervous when i decided to do it but as i entered the stage there was a bright light on me and the audience cheered and i

hadn’t even sang yet i think me just going up on stage showed them i had the courage to do it so they appreci-ated that.

Marcel: As an upcoming young talent, Rising Star shall i say, who do you look up to or who have you looked up to in the music industry?

M.O.D: Well if you dont know I was born and raised in Ghana for about 7-8 years so you might think i didnt know about certain superstars in the music world which would be a true statement (laughs), however when i did reach this country music was the first thing i heard and since then i found out about stars like Beyonce’, Jay-z, LL Cool J, Michael Jackson be-ing one of the major ones, Whitney Houston and various other artists but it was mostly them that i heard about. Recently though i dont know if you’ve heard of Tinchy Stryder he is a grime mc so he raps basically and he is my insperation because he is form Ghana aswell and i’ve read articles about him and alot of peo-ple doubted him especially his family but inspite of that he still made it so thats my insperation. I feel like i’m kind of in the same situation he was in, as a rising talent but now that my first album is due to come out 6th of March i feel like I’ve come from noth-ing to something.

Marcel: Well it seems like you’ve overcome certain obstacles in your life, but what the audiences and the fans really want to know is what

made you come up with the Ghana skank?

M.O.D: (laughs) Well to be totally honest with you i was listening to some baseline which is beats what have a good baseline to it so you can come up with your own skanks (dances), as i was listening to it in my room i started jumping up and down it was fun and for a split sec-ond i remembered how me and my family used to dance in Ghana and thats how i started the Ghana skank.

Marcel: Well if you dont already know you have every one doing it, even down to my two little kids (laughs). And your Ghana Skank has its own page on the latest RISING STARZ magazine page 7 so its really get-ting you known there is even a fan page for Ghana skank on facebook so yh keep doing your thing and trust me your gonna make it big time. But thank you for coming to talk to us from the RISING STARZ magazine and we hope to speak to in another 5-6 months to see whats crackin.
