What is a Twitter Chat?• These chats occur at a preset time and day of

the week. • Teachers use Twitter to participate in the chats

by following the chat’s hashtag – (hashtag: a word/phrase preceded by a

hash/pound sign (#) that helps people find tweets on a certain topic).

Getting started in a Twitter Chat

• Identify the chat you want to participate in• Introduce yourself at the start of the chat• Include the correct hashtag in your tweets • Start by responding to a few people – A response can be a clarifying question– Retweet ideas that you agree with – “Quote Retweet” to add your thoughts to a tweet

• Share your blog posts that are related to the topic• Don’t try to read every tweet in the chat, just

jump in to the conversation and have fun
