Digital Engagement

Student engagement is a known key to success for educational institutions. Administrators and educators strive to build engagement both through personal, on-campus interactions and through the digital world. Technology is a fundamental part of today’s campus infrastructure, and a vital component in driving student participation. Innovations in the ways students connect online are helping to build community and increase successful educational outcomes. Example: the adoption of a private social engagement platform, connecting all constituents of the college in one global campus.

Bring More Communities into the Global Campus

Educational institutions that aim to grow and thrive are mandated to connect beyond traditional boundaries and reach out to previously overlooked communities.

Fortunately, technology is a step ahead of us. Enterprise engagement platforms enables the kind of connectivity necessary to engage underserved or unrecognized groups of constituents.

Example: older, non-degreed students between 25 and 45 years of age, often described as unsuccessful, can be more deeply engaged for successful outcomes with accelerated courses and adaptive learning tools that are mobile and responsive.

Technology – Beyond Information to Connection

Educational institutions have served as repositories of information since at least the Middle Ages.

Now, that great store of information must be accessible through mobile, social connections among formerly disparate communities—faculty, students, staff, alumni and others.

People thinking and working together produce great things and by sharing knowledge, increase their own learning.

Technology provides the needed infrastructure to facilitate this new level of engagement, in the form of campus engagement communities.

Personalized Technology in Learning

Adaptive, personalized learning technologies exemplify the marriage of tech and education.

Enterprise engagement connects students directly to faculty, enabling better understanding of curriculum, and keeping them engaged throughout their school careers.

On-campus or off-campus groups can use networks to share trends, research, and expert content.

Clouds and Crowds

The clearest illustration of technology married to education is the development of online programs, using the cloud. Many institutions are challenged as to how they can grow their online to quickly access a global audience.

Online programs in the cloud, opens the college doors to “crowds,” which can include all the various demographics of students producing work together, testing ideas, and sharing information.

Effectively breaking down the “ivy-covered walls,” through online programs using cloud technology means colleges and their educational mission are no longer limited in time and place.

Beyond the Campus

Engagement of students taking online courses is essential to curtailing the drop out rate of online courses. Enterprise engagement software for higher education connects students with faculty and other important constituents, expanding their knowledge universe exponentially.Learners now have access to experts in other institutions. They can dialogue outside class for new ideas and information, and connect with possible future employers.

Engaged for Life

Using engagement techniques like gamification, learners are recognized for their participation in their area of interest or are awarded credentials for their accomplishments.

Increased student engagement builds a dynamic relationship with the institution, producing greater achievement and feelings of satisfaction. Result: increased student retention and graduation rates.

Engaged students who graduate become alumni. The same technology behind enterprise engagement platforms facilitates greater alumni engagement, leading to increased support and giving.
