Founded in 1842, the University of Chile is themain and oldest institution of higher educationowned by the State in Chile, with a nationaland public character.

It is a research-oriented institution, and it isorganized in 14 Faculties. The Faculty ofPhysical Sciences and Mathematics, in whichour work is focused, hosts the School ofEngineering.

It has 425 professors, 1.100 graduate studentsand 4.860 undergraduate students.

The Campus comprises 13 Departments:Astronomy, Materials Science, ComputationScience, Physics, Geophysics, Geology, CivilEngineering, Mining Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Industrial Engineering,Mathematical Engineering, MechanicalEngineering, and Chemical and BiotechnologyEngineering.

CLEANER PRODUCTIONAGREEMENT

The Cleaner Production Agreementis a sustainability standard createdby the Government of Chile. Theyhave created this mechanism forseveral industrial sectors, andrecently also for Higher EducationInstitutions.

Around 20 Universities signed it, ofwhich 14 complied with it. Itrequested to accomplish thefollowing 11 goals:

The Campus Photovoltaic Solar Plant is built by124 modules, which are semi transparent andintegrated into the building.

It is connected to the grid, with power installedof 15 kW.

Inversors Provider: SMA.
