Task 1: Draw two different patterns from ancient Rome or Egypt or Islamic decorative arts.TIP: Start by drawing out the basic design in pencil first and then apply pen to the outline and fill with colour or paint – Grades 1 & 2– use a simpler pattern eg… Grades 3 & 4– research and use a more complicated pattern

Task 2: Make two drawings in colour of your canopic jar designs. Your design should consider:• How the head combines with the pot shape• Egyptian references (eg. Hieroglyphics)• Pattern• References to you and you personality• Textures and patterns found on your animal

Attempt to include patterns from Task 1.Show a basic use of colour and pattern to show ideas.

Demonstrate a level of research in designing your pot (other images of animals, patterns etc) Combine colour and pattern carefully to create a coherent design.

Take greater creative risk in your ideas, ie more complex patterns or ways to incorporate the animal.Draw the pot from different angles.
