HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA

TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION,

RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION

STAGES?

Over the course of the project, myself and my partner have

used a range of media technologies through the

construction, planning, research and evaluation stages…

Before research and planning stages we had to create a

platform to present research, planning and construction on…

We decided to create a joint account on Outlook and Gmail.

both helped us in managing and producing information clearly for the main product and ancillary products

In addition to this, both accounts were extremely helpful making everything from

documents, images, links and videos, accessible and easy.

They could be accessed at any time. Outlook is available on the iTunes store

and play store meaning it could be accessed by mobile too.

We used our joint account to sign up to wix.com – an online website creator

It was the most effective method to use as we both already have past

experience of using it in our as work.

Wix html5 allowed us to create a website presenting our

construction, research, planning and evaluation.

We wanted it look visually appealing as it’s

the first thing visitors see.

Wix allowed us to incorporate features as there is a navigation bar, gallery and

sound to allow users a more better experience.

The website is split into 4 separate tabs:

Home Meet the team Blog Evaluation

All of these tabs have a clear purpose and unique structure

making user accessibility much easier

Wix supports blogger – a blogging website which is able to be connected

through the joint account on Wix. This was significantly easier as it

allowed us to add pictures, videos and embed other platforms e.g. slideshare

and Prezi

When carrying out research and planning we were able to update blogs – myself and Aqsa thought it would be

effective to create various blog post check points to mark various stages

throughout the process

Blogger allowed us to make drafts before publishing the blog

posts.This enabled us to

return later if adjustments were

needed to be made.

Through carrying out research and planning, it was useful to research other

students work for inspiration and assistance…

We researched this via Google Chrome – A SEARCH ENGINE

POWERED BY GOOGLE INC.

GOOGLE CHROME IS ACCESIBLE, FAST AND

RELIABLE ENSURING WE GAINED THE MOST OUT

OF THE PROJECT

We used our initiative by using the second half of our summer break to begin the

research and planning of the process.

Here we began researching artists and developed a concept.

Mobile devices were prominent and crucial throughout the whole process –

They allowed us to create appointments, contact certain location incl. my work

experience studio and the Custard Factory.

As well as using Mobile Phones, we also used my Bluetooth speaker for us to play

the song in order for me to lip sync correctly and simultaneously

During the filming of the project, we used a Canon 600D

as we did for as. It allowed us to develop our creative control and develop

the quality of footage.

We were already so accustomed with this specific camera meaning there was no

time wasted in teaching ourselves.

Once research and planning was done we

moved onto construction and logistics.

Throughout filming the entire music video, we

used the Canon 600d on an ISO of around 100-800 allowing us to fulfill this piece of technology as much as we could.

For most scenes, we used a Manfrotto Tripod to allow for steady and smooth footage.

Some scenes we chose to use handheld camera e.g. towards end when she’s

walking alone. Allows audience to travel with her

emotions.

We used the ambient lighting of nightlife during the broad street scenes therefore no artificial

lighting was needed

Using my itunes account, I purchased tove lo’s whole album including the video song ‘habits’ to film our video. As for the rest of the album,

this was for the artist website to allow audiences to browse through my artist’s album.

When filming, communication was the key essential to making sure everything ran smoothly. We used instant messaging platform WhatsApp to communicate to each other as well as our idea.

We were able to send ideas, moodboards whilst it all being instant and free.

After each day of filming, I took the footage home and copied it onto my Dell laptop, Computer and

just to make sure… on a Hard Drive. This also I could organize into separate folders to make footage more accessible and easier to find.

To edit our footage, we used Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 which provided us with an

array of tools to create high quality and a realistic video.

We were able to import the footage and audio then cut and replace in conjunction

with our storyboard.

We were able to alter aspect e.g. lighting for

scenes that were to bright or dark and the colours to

match it to our chosen concept and brand for the

artist thus making it visually appealing

Once we finished, we were then able to export the video as an mp4 file – uploaded it to YouTube, a free video sharing platform.

As it was our first draft… we shared the video via. Facebook, WhatsApp, Email and Twitter to

gain constructive criticism.

Once the main product was achieved, I could focus mainly on the ancillary tasks where we could use shots taken on the days of filming

I chose to create a digipak and an artist website - I used Adobe Photoshop cs6 to create elements for the digipak where I was able to manipulate

VARIABLES such as images and patterns.

After editing photos, I transferred them from

PSD files to JPG ready to upload on my artist

website.

For the artist website, I used Wix once again as I’m very much familiar with it - it was a realistic

form of promotion where I created different pages which I felt would interest the user.

These were: Home – tours, album release, videos,

social networking Bio Music Gallery

After creating the music video and ancillary tasks, I

could then move onto evaluation stages.

To create my evaluation I USED A RANGE OF MEDIA

TECHNOLOGIES TO PRESENT INFORMATION

IN A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT WAYS…

I USED THE CANON 600D TO RECORD A TALK SHOW I CREATED CALLED ‘THE ELENA GRACE SHOW’ FOR THE ARTIST TO MAKE A GUEST

APPEARANCE ON. MY ARTIST DISCUSSES SEVERAL ASPECTS AND CONVENTIONS I FOLLOWED IN MY

WORK.

TO MAKE THIS WORK I USED MY FRIEND GAGANDEEP VIRDI TO PLAY

THE TALK SHOW HOST – IT WAS VERY FUN FILMING THIS AND ALLOWED ME TO ACHIEVE MY

PURPOSE.

It was then edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 where I inserted several clips, images and GIFs to

thematically match my speech.

It was then exported and uploaded TO YOUTUBE

I USED AN IMAC TO FILM MYSELF CREATING A VLOG, ALMOST FROM A DIRECTOR’S

PERSPECTIVE.

EVERYTHING I WAS SAYING WAS COMING DIRECTLY FROM MY OWN PERSPECTIVE AND

MIND DEEMING IT TO BE 100% ACCURATE

Another media platform I used was Prezi – an interactive presentation creator where I

can add images, videos and embed several other platforms

And FINALLY!!!!!!! I USED POWERPOINT PRESENTATION 2013 TO CREATE THIS WHOLE

PRESENTATION CLEARLY I COULD ADD PHOTOS AND PICTURES FROM THE INTERNET

I THEN UPLOADED IT ONTO A WEBSITE CALLED SLIDESHARE WHICH IS WHAT YOU’RE READING

THIS OFF OF RIGHT NOW – SLIDESHARE IS A WEBSITE WHERE YOU CAN UPLOAD

PRESENTATIONS WHICH CAN THEN BE EMBEDDED ON SEVERAL WEBSITES.

THANK YOU FOLKS… FIRST OF ALL I’D LIKE

TO THANK MYSELF FOR WORKING AT THIS FOR SO LONG HAVING TO ENDURE THE MANY DISTRACTIONS THAT

THE INTERNET DANGLES IN OUR

FACES.

AND MY CAT… HE KEEPS MY
