4. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE

CONSTRUCTION, RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVOLUTION

STAGES?

To record the preliminary and final task we used a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera.

We used this because of the high quality footage it produces, in order to produce a high quality, clear picture.

The manual lens also allows us to zoom in and out of focus to make a ‘drunk effect’, enhancing the message of the

video and the allowing the audience to put themselves in the positon of the character.

RECORDING EQUIPMENT

To edit the preliminary and final task we used Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. This programme allows us to put together clips, change

speeds, edit lighting etc in time to music.

We used this software because we already knew how to navigate it from AS Media Studies and it effectively produces high-end

videos.

We also used Adobe After Effects CS6 on the final task to produce the ‘drunk’ effects we added to the video. We added a fisheye

effect to the party scenes to warp the image and emphasize the idea of alcohol. We also used a double image effect on the

‘waking up the next morning’ scene to put the audience in the position of the character and give an uneasy feeling of still being

drunk.

EDITING THE VIDEO

We used Adobe Photoshop to create different album cover looks. We used this software because two members of our group already knew how to use it, so the knowledge of the

use of the software allowed us to create professional looking, high-end graphics.

It allowed us to edit the images and overlap images to effectively create a persona for the artist, using album

cover art to put across the type of music the artist creates, as well as an insight into the type of artist he is.

EDITING IMAGES

To create a blog I used Blogspot to upload all my work onto. I used this website after previously having problems using a different blogging website. This website was easy to upload work onto and effectively organised and displayed my work.

To create the artist’s website as part of the final task we used Wix. We used this website instead blogspot because

Wix get make more aesthetically pleasing visuals by allowing you to edit more and create different ways in

presenting information. To keep the artist’s theme from the album cover, it was important for the website to look

similar and look good.

BLOGGING AND WEBSITES

We used Youtube to upload our preliminary and final tasks as well as our storyboard plan to music. We exploited the

use of social media in order for people to access the videos from their own homes to get as many views and feedback as possible. As well as this, Youtube is easily compatible with Blogger and Wix to embed the video into the website. By embedding the video it gives the website a sleeker, more

professional look, as well as being easy to access.

YOUTUBE

By using different websites such as Prezi, Scribd and Slideshare, it allows me to present my work in different ways, using different types of media. It makes for more

aesthetically pleasing visuals and has good compatibility with Blogger, allowing me to upload and embed the

presentations into my blog. These websites allow me to upload Word and Powerpoint documents onto my blog.

Prezi allows me to create different interactive presentations, using different templates to make my

presentations all look individual.

PREZI, SCRIBD AND SLIDESHARE

We used Outlook email to communicate with Ed Sheeran’s record label in order to ask permission to use the song.

OUTLOOK

To edit the Final Task we used a Mac Mini because it had a higher processor than the windows computers so we could

edit easily and more efficiently. Premiere Pro runs more effectively on the Mac Minis so we could edit more

accurately, producing a better quality video.
