Skill 1 Steps: Insert an Object on a Slide

Insert an Online Picture

1. Click Slide 3 in the slide thumbnails pane

2. Click the Online Pictures button in the content placeholder to display the Insert Pictures dialog box

3. Click in the Office.com Clip Art search box, type cocoa pods, and then press Enter

4. Click the cocoa pods clip art image

5. Click the Insert button

Insert a Picture File

1. Click Slide 4 in the slide thumbnails pane

2. Click the INSERT tab

3. Click the Pictures button in the Images group

4. In the Insert Picture dialog box, browse to the Module8-PowerPoint folder on your storage medium and then click the student data file named M8-C3-S1-CocoaGrowers.jpg

5. Click the Insert button

6. Click the task pane launcher in the Size group on the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab to display the Format Picture pane

7. Click POSITION to expand the list of position options

8. Select the value in the Horizontal position measurement box, type 6.5, and then press Enter

9. Select the value in the Vertical position measurement box, type 5.25, and then press Enter

Insert and Size Objects To insert a shape, such as an arrow, click the

Shapes button You can insert a table using the Table button

and then enter the data in the table You can also insert SmartArt graphics, which

can be used to illustrate information in the form of a diagram

Size an object by selecting it and then dragging the corner handles

Snap Pictures and Objects to a Grid You can align pictures and objects to a specific

location on a slide using snap-to options You first have to turn on the snap-to options by

clicking the dialog box launcher in the Show group on the VIEW tab

Next, click the Snap objects to grid check box to have objects to snap to the closest grid intersection

Insert Visuals in Masters If you want to use a graphic on every slide or on

most slides in a presentation, you should use the procedures in this skill to insert the image in the Slide Master view

With that method, you only have to insert the item once, and it appears on every slide

1. Click Slide 3 in the slide thumbnails pane

2. In Slide 3 in the slide pane, right-click the cocoa bean image and then click Format Picture in the shortcut menu

3. In the Format Picture pane, click the Fill & Line button

4. Click LINE to expand the list of line options

5. Click the Solid Line option to select it

Arranging Objects If you place more than one image on a slide,

you can arrange objects so that one appears to be in the front with the others tucked beneath it

To create this effect, select one of the images to make it active and then click the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab

In the Arrange group, use the Bring Forward and Send Backward options

5. Click the Reveal button in the Transition to This Slide group

7. Click the From Beginning button in the Start Slide Show group

8. Navigate through the slide show to view the transition effects you applied

Removing Transitions If you decide that you have too many

transitions, you can remove some of them To remove a transition, click the slide or slides

where the transition is applied and then click the TRANSITIONS tab

In the Transition to This Slide group, click the None button in the Transitions gallery

5. Click the down arrow in the Duration measurement box twice to change the time to 03.00

Timing Animations You can change the timing of animations with

the Duration and Delay measurement boxes in the Timing group on the ANIMATIONS tab

Select an object with an animation applied and use the Duration measurement box to set the length of time the animation should play

Use the Delay measurement box to set the length of delay between two animations
