How did attract/address your audience?AS Media Evaluation

The Storyline (synopsis)

• Because we didn’t have any movie posters or trailers to advertise our movie, we just had to 2 minute introduction to draw people in.

• Our film revolves around a group of three teenagers; one girl and two boys, all around the age of 15-16. They are first seen walking up to an abandoned looking location, they explore. However, as they are exploring the unknown, one of the friends mysteriously disappears, leaving the others puzzled.

The Mysteries presented

• At the beginning of the intro, they are seen walking up and through the farm. The farm is abandoned. They do not know why the place is deserted, therefore it will most likely be answered during the rest of the movie. But for now, it is a mystery the the characters and the audience.

• Clues are presented throughout; for example, the line of caravans randomly parked. Even the group are puzzled by them (“What are these doing here?”). This could be important or it could just another feature to add to the already spooky atmosphere.

• Later on in the film, we see one of the characters disappear. However, just before this happens we hear a mysterious flute tune, separate from the background music. They are obviously linked but there is no inclination as to how or why he has disappeared. This is the main question posed throughout the intro.

Why would people want to watch our film?

• Because we have presented lots of mysteries, the audience would hopefully be asking themselves questions;

‘Why are the caravans there?’ ‘Do they have any relevance?’

‘What is the flute tune?’

‘Why did he disappear when heard the tune?’

‘Why are they there in the first place?’• We feel that we have not made the intro to confusing, that it would put the

audience off watching the rest, but have given them enough clues for them to wonder and perhaps make their own assumptions. If they have made their own assumptions, then hopefully they would want to watch on the see if they are right and to find our what has really happened.

• Our hope is that they would be hooked on the mysteries and unanswered questions.
