NAPLAN
Earlier this year all of our Year 3 and 5 students
participated in the National Assessment Program in
Literacy and Numeracy. The students completed tests
in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation
and Numeracy. Results from these tests will be sent
home this week and overall school results discussed at
the P&C meeting this Tuesday. If you have any
questions about your child’s results, please make a time
to discuss them.
DRIVING SAFELY
Attached is an information sheet which
the RTA have asked us to distribute. We
appreciate the safe way in which parents drop off and
pick up their students at our school. It is important
that we continue to focus on the importance of safe
road rules around our school.
ATTENDANCE
As discussed at our last assembly, September is
Attendance Month. We will be presenting awards
during our next assembly to those students who
demonstrate particularly good attendance patterns.
Please find a flyer and sticker about attendance for
your information.
SHOW WEEK
This week our students will be
completing a range of activities in
the Creative and Practical Arts. The
items will be entered into various
categories at the Young Show in a
couple of weeks. Parents and community members
are invited and encouraged to come down this week to
help out with the fun activities between 12.00 and 3.00.
Students will be preparing handwriting sheets and
stories to enter. They will also be creating two
scarecrows which will be entered in the show and then
returned to our kitchen garden. They will also be doing
acrylic paintings on canvas,
dioramas, photography and
basket weaving. Come along
and enjoy the fun
atmosphere as our students
let their imagination soar.
MISS BUNNY
Many of you would have
already met Miss Amy
Bunny, a Prac student from
Charles Sturt University
who has been working with
both classes last week and
this week. Miss Bunny has
been helping the students with english and craft lessons
and has been a welcome addition to our staff.
CRICKET NSW
Both Upper and
Lower Division
enjoyed their visit
from Jock of
Cricket NSW last
Monday. He ran
the students
through a number
of training drills and
small games before
playing a game of con-
tinuous cricket. Jock
gave each child a show-
bag from Cricket NSW
and encouraged them to
sign up to play cricket
this summer.
From the P&C …………….
A big “Thnak You” for everyone who helped with the
catering for the funeral of Mr Clem Williams, a former
local resident and returned serviceman of Murringo.
The family of Mr Williams wanted to pass on their
gratitude in preparing and serving such a wonderful
afternoon tea and refreshments following the funeral.
“As it was such a chilly day, the warmth shown by the
community of Murringo as well as by the open fire when
we walked into the supper room was very much
appreciated. It was only fitting that Clem was to be
remembered and farewelled by a caring community such as
Murringo. Thank You”. The family of Clem Williams.
