ISCAr is introducing a new, single-ended insert for parting, with a revolutionary clamping method (patent pending).
Veryrigidclampinginatangentiallyoriented pocket. Increases pocket life by 3 times more than any other SElF-GrIP mechanism.Enablesmachiningathighfeedratesand provides excellent straightness and surface finish.Providesasolutiontotheproblemofinserts being pulled out during retraction. Has a solid stopper, unlike the friction retaining force in the current systems. (Especially important on machines with a bar feeder or sub spindles.)IntheSElF-GrIP system the machining forces are exerted on a very short stopper, while in the TANG-GrIP system, machining forces are supported by a long and rigid rear wall. Pocket wear, which occurs during machining and insert indexing in the SElF-GrIP system, causes a reduction in the clamping force. This does not happen with the new TANG-GrIP system.TheTANG-GrIP system provides very accurate grooving repeatability.Thecombinationoftangentialclampingandfree chip flow results in improved tool and pocket life.
Offersafree, unobstructedchipflow.Thisisvery important in deep grooving, since there is no upper jaw to interfere as in the other clamping systems.Wearoftheupperjawoftheconventionalself clamping systems reduces the clamping force, while in the new system there is no effect on the clamping force. The flexible jaw is protected by the insert. The TAG inserts are available with the familiar J- and c-type chipformers, with neutral and angular frontal cutting edges. The new tools are equipped with a user-friendly clamping and extracting device. The introduction of this new family will include blades and inserts in .118-.157 inch widths in Ic928 and the new Ic908 AL-TEc grades. More sizes will follow. The blades are in standard sizes which fit IScAR's blocks. They have a ruler engraved on them to assist in the adjustment of the blade's overhang.

IScAR is introducing an upgraded DO-GrIP parting insert. The insert features a coolant hole that passes through the insert, with an outlet near the cutting edge. The new DGNC inserts were designed for parting and grooving on stainless steel and high temperature alloys. When machining stainless steel or high temperature alloys, the temperature near the cutting edge becomes very high. These materials tend to adhere to the cutting edge, causing built-up edge. This phenomenon can be reduced or even eliminated, by efficient cooling of the cutting edge.
In grooving and parting applications, there is a problem, that the chip prevents the coolant from reaching the cutting edge. The new DGNC inserts are an ideal solution, as they have a coolant hole through the insert with an outlet near the cutting edge. The coolant reaches the cutting edge and the insert body is internally cooled.
Materials such as titanium, inconel, or austenitic stainless steel tend to strain hardening during the cutting process and they form long and tangled chips. The efficient coolant supplied to the cutting zone decreases flank and cratering rates. This leads to substantially longer tool life and a better machined surface finish. The coolant supply can be attached directly to the DGFH-C blades used on the regular blocks, or through the SGTBU-C blocks which have coolant passages and connecting ports. In the first stage IScAR will provide the .118 and .157 inch insert widths in the C-type chipformer configuration with neutral and angular frontal cutting edges.
The DGNC insert is the best solution for grooving and parting on high temperature alloys and stainless steel.

Parting and Grooving
IScAR has developed a new insert designated PENTACUT, with 5 cutting edges, for multifunction applications including grooving, parting, recessing and chamfering. This cost effective insert is designed to perform shallow grooving operations and parting of small solid bars up to .472" in diameter. Each cutting edge on the pentagonal shaped insert is equipped with a unique J-type positive chipformer that provides excellent chip control in grooving, parting and recessing (light side turning) applications.
For more details, see pages B8, B20, B52-55, B141-142.
The new toolholders can also carry new adapters for CUT-GrIP, TOP-GrIP, HElI-GrIP, HElIFACE and PENTACUT with slanted screw-clamped inserts. Due to this improved clamping method, the rigidity of the new adapters has been increased by 100% in comparison with the current GAD adapters, thereby improving insert tool life by 15-20%.
For more details, see pages B19, E5-6, E18-19, E39-40.
A single MODUlAr-GrIP, straight or perpendicular toolholder can be used for many applications, which will reduce tooling cost and stock.
customers already using GAD, GAM or DGAD adapters will have more application options after switching to the new toolholder.

System overview
This is your passport to enter the new world of small diameter, internal turning.IScAR has designed a new concept in tool holding. Now, a single bushing toolholder can hold a full set of carbide shank boring bars capable of grooving, turning, threading, profiling and recessing.IScAR also provides you with VIsas for cost reductions. The carbide shanks provide excellent rigidity and a high length-to-diameter (L/D) ratio. This allows the boring bar overhang to be adjusted to the best rigidity for each job.The new bushing holders incorporate special stoppers, useful in many applications with IsCaRsCHaMGROOVEsystemandPICCObars.Utilizingthestopperseliminatesresetting the tool after every indexing. This new, versatile system replaces many expensive boring bars needed to perform the variety of applications now possible with this single bushing holder.

Fast Metal removal (FMr) is essential especially in roughing applications where high removal rates are desired. The new HElITUrN holder with its tangentially clamped insert and the unique helical shaped cutting edges provide an exceptional solution, enabling the use of very large depths of cut and high feeds. The HElITUrN SLANR/L-TANG toolholder uses a unique tangentially clamped insert, LNMX 150616R/L-HT. The double-sided insert, with its narrow curved rake face, is clamped into the toolholder on a corresponding seat using a conical head screw. This design protects the toolholder from overload and insert damage. The upper rake face of the insert is mounted at the same level as the holder body, thereby enabling the chips to flow without being disturbed by the tool body or any other element.
IScAR presents FEEDTUrN, a new tangential system for Fast Metal removal (FMr) in roughing applications with very high feed.

The original clamping device provides excellent accuracy and repeatability due to carefully balanced clamping forces and high accuracy of all parts. Edge location repeatability of the cutting edge with a single insert was measured to be as high as .0004".Precise insert orientation is especially important when using wiper type inserts (WG and WF chipbreakers). The strong and safe clamping combined with high repeatability guarantees the essential angle of the wiper edge in relation to the machined workpiece and thereby ensures high surface quality.
