EN 462 -1:199 4 Wire Type were introduced as a EURO PEAN STAN DAR D to supersede the German Standards Institute (DIN 54.109) and the BritishStandards Institute (BS3971:1980 type 1) Image Q uality Indicators. Each indicator consists of a series of seven parallel wires of different thicknesses

mounted and encapsulated between two thin sheets of transparent, flexible P VC . A lead monogram indicates the number of the thickest wire, the

material and the EN symbol.

Wire lengths ; 10 mm, 25 mm or 50mm (Please state length required when ordering)

Indicator Sizes:

There are four sizes of EN Image Q uality Indicators.

Size 1 contains wire numbers 1 to 7 and used for materialthicknesses in the range of 40 to 160mm

Size 6 contains wire numbers 6 to 12 and used for materialthicknesses in the range of 12.5 to 50mm

Size 10 contains wire numbers 10 to 16 and used for materialthicknesses in the range of 5 to 20mm

Size 13 contains wire numbers 13 to 19 and used for materialthicknesses in the range 2.5 to 10mm

All sizes are available in Steel (Fe), A luminium (A l), and C opper (C u.) T itanium (T i) Image Q uality Indicators are only available in sizes 10 and 13.

As an illustration the identification (i.e. lead monogram) for, say Size 1 (Wire numbers 1 to 7) in steel (Fe) would be 1 FE EN

All EN Image Quality Indicators are individually numbered and supplied with a Certificate of Conformity, with or without wallets. (Please specify)

DIN 54 109 Wire Type Image Q uality Indicators are similar to the

EN 462-1:1994 I.Q.Is, the wire diameters are the same, and thereare the same wire numbers in each size of Indicator. The only difference

being that the lead monogram reads DIN rather than EN.

Example; Size 1 (Wire numbers 1 to 7) in Steel (Fe) would be 1 FE DIN.DIN 54 109 Wire Type Image Q uality Indicators are only available in Steel

(Fe), A luminium (A l) and C opper (Cu) but can be supplied with either

10mm, 25mm or 50mm long wires.

All indicators have a serial number for Quality Assurance purposes,

from which can be traced to the measured wire diameters and date of

manufacture.

A C ertificate of C onformity is optionally available at additional cost.

ASTM E747-84a / ASME SE747-97a wire typepenetrameters consists of a series of six parallel wires of differentthicknesses, 25 or 50mm long, encapsulated between two thin sheets of

transparent, flexible P VC . Lead characters identify the thickness of the

thickest wire, and the material group. T he letters ASTM are also included.

Sets A, B and C are available with wires either 25 or 50mm long.Set D is only available with wires 50mm long

A Certificate of Conformity is available for each of the

above Wire Type I.Q.I.s.
