GOD OPENED MANY SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE DOORS The Higginbotham family -- Bob, Julie, CJ and Will -- can often be found sharing a laugh with friends while serving together in ministry. They credit their mentors at Matthews UMC with helping them discover their individual gifts by providing leadership roles outside their comfort level. Bob and Julie feel that they "accidentally" volunteered in numerous roles that led to many fulfilling moments in their family's faith journey. Bob fondly recalls one of his favorite moments in music ministry: "Will and I attended a Father's and Son's Choir practice to prepare for a special Mother's Day presentation. Leaders were not prepared for a six-year-old participant, but worked in a solo for Will that stirred emotions for many in the congregation.” Julie’s “accidental volunteering” has not reached fruition due to her busy time of life, but feels so grateful to the members of the Choir who have continued to reach out to her since a meet-and-greet led to her participation during a few worship services. Bob was recently hired as Contemporary Worship Leader at Wesley UMC, while Julie leads one of the Children's choirs at MUMC. Julie hopes to change more lives by supporting Music & Arts school-year and summer camp programs planned at Wesley for the many children on MUMC’s waitlist. Julie shares, "Our family is meant to be at Matthews UMC. God opened many seemingly impossible doors during our moving process from West Virginia six years ago. We are firm believers that things happen and that people come in and out of our lives for a reason. We’re supported by leaders who offer us a chance to flourish creatively in leadership, and feel encouraged by our loving church family." Bob has felt the call to ministry, and says, “If you listen to God, your answer may come in the form of a pat on the back, in the words of a sermon, or even in comments from those around you. Don't run away. Follow God’s lead, and allow Him to give your family a full life.” YOUR TITHES + GOD’S LOVE IN ACTION = THRIVING KINGDOM Register now for Children’s Choir beginning August 27, by clicking Kids on the Music & Worship Arts page at matthewsumc.org. GOD OPENED MANY SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE DOORS

The Higginbotham family -- Bob, Julie, CJ and Will -- can often be found sharing a laugh with friends while serving together in ministry.
