Tithes for the month of March, totaling $442, were given to Silent Unity, Unity Northwest Region, Unity Worldwide Ministries, TAFY, Rose House, and the Port Angeles Food Bank. Our 38/38 Vision for UITO (average of 38 people per Sunday giving an average of $38 each) is moving upwards at a steady pace. Over the past year, we have moved from 28/$28 (28 people average per Sunday/ $28 average giving per per-son) to 32/$36, (32 people average per Sunday/ $36 average giving per person).

Thank you for participating in holding this 38/38 prosperity consciousness for Unity in the Olympics! At the Annual Membership Meeting on April 15

th, the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet state-

ments for April 2017 through March 2018 were presented. Total income for the year was $57,020.53 with total operating expenses of $51,222.08. Other expenses totaled $1,204.95, result-ing in a Net Income of $4,593.50. The 2017/2018 Profit & Loss Budget vs. Actual Statement was also presented. We collected $3,722.53 more in income than budgeted and $2,220.92 less expenses than budgeted. Our Net Income was $4,558.50 higher than the budget. A Tithe Recipient List was also presented. As a congregation, we tithed $5,543.50 in the 2017/18 fiscal year. It was noted that the Board is open to suggestions from members for other organizations to be placed on the Tithing list. A member can submit an organization’s name and information to any Board member, for consideration. Copies of the 2018/2019 Budget were also made available. Total income is projected at $66,300 with budgeted expenses of $66,014.00, resulting in a projected Net Income of $286.00. A project Wishlist was also presented. Items on the Wishlist are not included in the 2018/2019 budget. These are projects that the Board of Trustees will be saving money to accomplish. The Wishlist was also updated at the meeting to include additional projects. Your donations and fund-raising ideas are welcome! All of the above highlighted documents are available to members. If you were not at the meeting, or did not take a copy and would like one, just let me know and I will be happy to make one for you. Blessings and thanks for your continued support of this ministry, Kim Perkins

11:9They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of

the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea."

“This beautiful, poetical vision of Isaiah's is capable of expression in the world today. If our world leaders would only see that there is a power behind this world chaos that, if invoked or even consulted, would straighten out everything for us! Sooner or later we must come to a recognition of that guiding power. We must incorporate it into our civilization. Then we shall have world peace, and then we shall know what it is to celebrate the birth of the Christ mind. We shall know what it is to reincarnate in our mind and in our life that wonderful Spirit which was in the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Love, Peace and Joy,

Rev Donna

UITO Synopsis of Annual Meeting 2018 By Kim Perkins The Unity in the Olympics Annual Membership Meeting was held directly after the service on April 15, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall. Attendees filled the room and refreshments were served. Duane Morris, VP, read the minutes of last year’s meeting. The minutes were approved and it was determined that we did have a quor-um. Kim Perkins, Treasurer, offered an annual treasurer report as well as presented the 2018-2019 budget, Tithe Recipient List, and project Wishlist. For more detailed information about her report, please see Treasurer’s Report in this newsletter on Page two. Teia Stitzel, who has been the Board President for the past six years, reviewed the church accomplishments over the past year including connection to the County sewer system and substantial roof repairs. .

She thanked the many people who have supported her and served along with her over the years. Teia was given a gift as a small thank-you for all she has done to keep UITO alive and vibrant, as well as a standing ovation. She reminded us to express our love and appreciation for each other as we go forward. Rev. Donna Little spoke about her vision for our church and her role as our spiritual leader. She offered a five point handout of her vision (available through the church office) and reminded us that in June of 2017 she accepted a position as part time minister for up to two years. Her plan is to guide us in solidifying who we are as a community and drawing our right and perfect new minister to us. The next step is a gathering after service on May 6th to review our church Mission Statement, so be sure to attend and be an integral part of this process! New UITO Bylaws were presented. Special thanks was given to Board Members Rev. Donna, Kim, Teia and Erik for their work on the bylaw revisions. After discussion, the new bylaws were adopted. Copies are availa-ble from the church office. Duane Morris was re-elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for a second three-year term. Request for nominees from the floor was made three times, but no additional nominees came forward. A Nominating Committee for Board members for next year was formed. Tim West will be the Chairman of the Volunteer Committee and Pat Mawson will be the alternate chairman. The meeting was adjourned at 2:15pm. Shortly after the Annual Membership Meeting, the Board of Trustees met briefly to elect new officers for the next year. Duane Morris was elected President, Charles Mawson Vice President, Kim Perkins Treasurer and Flora Todt Secretary. Rev. Donna Little and Erik Simpson remain on the Board as well.

History of Memorial Day and what it means to UitO member Jerry Austin.

By Alice Alexander

The celebration of Memorial Day, observed the last Monday in May, has been around since the Civil War ended. It was a day to honor those who died in the Civil War. It was originally called Decoration Day and was started in 1868 by General John Logan who was the National Commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. Flowers were left on the graves of the lost soldiers. After World War I, Memorial Day was official-ly extended to include all men and women who died in any war or military action. In some families, it is a solemn tradition to take flowers to their veterans and family members. Since 1890, Memorial Day has been a national holiday with the Southern states coming on board a little later. In 1922, red poppies were sold by

Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1971, the holiday was officially changed to the last Monday in May so em-ployees could enjoy a three day weekend.

Memorial Day traditions to honor those who have served have been established over time. In 2000, the National Moment of Remembrance was born. Since that time, at 3PM on Memorial Day, a moment of silence has been designated to honor the fallen soldiers. This tradition was established by then President Bill Clinton, so people could "remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all." Last year, current President Donald Trump issued a proclamation to continue the tradition of having the American flag flown on Memorial Day at half-staff from sunrise until noon only, then raised briskly to the top of the staff until sunset, in honor of the nation's battle heroes. When I asked Jerry Austin what Memorial Day meant to him, he said it has always been a day of reflection on his friends and family who are no longer with him. He remembers Clay Wolverton, who was Assistant fire chief and Pete Huff, partner in Dobsons, and Don Lannoye, just to name a few. The day always brings to mind his vulnerability and short time on this earth, and how he appreciates the time he has lived. Jerry Austin was drafted into the Army during the Korean War in 1954-1958. He was stationed at Fort Ord, California and Fort Lewis in Washington. He spent three years in the Army.

When he returned from the service, he was a volunteer fireman for awhile and then in 1961 went on to become a regular fireman. In 1970, he became assis-tant fire chief under Ken Cameron.

Jerry honors his family and friends by putting flowers on their graves every Memorial Day. This has been a long-held tradition in his family, handed down to him from his parents. He often attends the services honoring veterans at the Coast Guard Base and enjoys them more and more every year.

On this ceremonious day, let’s join Jerry in remembering the fallen, and honor-ing their noble sacrifices, as we continue to pray for a lasting peace among nations.

“Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and everything we do and see. Every breath we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.”

“Until there is peace between religions, there can be no peace in the world.”

Come Visit the Minister’s Office

Just to let you know, Teia is still working her magic at UitO. Even though she has stepped off the Board for a well-deserved rest, she and Hailey have renovated the Minis-ter’s Office. There is new blue paint on the walls, with white trim, and room accents of gold and greys, along with interesting new inspirational plaques and pictures.

I certainly love this new space that is cleared, decorated and dedicated to the Minister Presence at Unity in the Olympics. I am grateful for the Imagination and Effort of

the Ladies who did the work. And, I am especially grateful for the Consciousness that this space manifests for our Minister. I am honored to add my Consciousness and Love to the space as I do my work here at UitO.

So, I invite you to come by the Office and check it out! Come sit for a moment and Bless this Space and our New Minister who is even now on the way to serve as our Spiritual Leader. Fill the room with your Love…I will gladly accept a hug, if I am there.

In Love and Light,
