EASTER SEASON Online Worship Series —excerpt from Pastor Malcolm’s eHerald letter Easter is not just a day. It is a whole season of time when we remember that Jesus lives on in each one of us. In the Bible, the early church was described in this way: “Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.” (Acts 2: 46-47a) So, during this Easter Season, we are following our ancestor’s traditions. We are creating a “temple” of worship in our hearts, in spite of the fact that we cannot be physically together. By sharing in words and music and breathing and eating and moving together, we will stay connected. The earliest Christians worshiped in their homes before they had churches, and so will we, until we can meet again in our sanctuaries. As we have been reminding ourselves, the church is not a place we go, the church is who we are, where we are. So friends, at the “heart of the matter,” we are connected through the Spirit that makes us one in love. If you haven’t already, we invite you to collect some stones from your garden on which you can draw a heart. No stones? …no worries. Collect any items you may have or create your own heart shaped items, pull them together, and create a small Easter altar in your home.

Are you familiar with the MARYLAND SENIOR CALL CHECK PROGRAM? Maryland Department of Aging is promoting their Maryland Senior Call Check Program. This is a free service provided by MDoA and is open to all Marylanders 65 or older. Registration is required and participants will be called daily, during the same one hour time period. If there is no answer then the Program will call an alternate contact person (next of kin, neighbor or other designated person) who has been selected by the participant as an emergency contact. The alternate contact will be asked to check on the Participant’s well-being. However, if a participant does not have an alternate one will be assigned.

More information can be accessed on the Carroll County government page:

“Blest Beings”- Summer 2020 Worship Series

Online, definitely, and we hope @ Center & Main (as we are permitted).

Join us at Westminster UMC Online Worship as we virtually

travel to the ancient land of the Celts. Ireland, Scotland and

Wales, and the Celts who lived in these lands, have a mystic

air around them and in the early fifth century a Celtic-brand

of Christianity took hold. Incorporating much of the ancient

reverence for the earth, with everything ordinary from sun-

up to sun-down, to the lighting of the night fires, the early

Celtic Christians incorporated beautiful practices of prayers

and rituals that celebrated their lives as blest beings. Our

Summer Series, “Blest Beings,” reminds us that despite the

challenges of our time we are blest and encouraged to live

in the present as those who are blessed by God.

Traveling with Matriarchs and Patriarchs of The Old

Testament, we shall glean essential truth of God’s being

present with them and us, today. We will renew prayers,

blessings, and practices from the ancient Celts and give

them modern flare through our creative expressions of

worship and community. It all begins June 7th, 2020!
