Waterloo Region

• Youth Employment: Create green collar employment opportunities for youth that develop entrepreneurial skills in operating a CSA micro-urban farm• A Place for Learning: Create spaces for exchanging knowledge and skills of sustainable farming, environmental stewardship, local food systems, and food justice.• Community Building: Address issues of food and employment insecurity and support diverse local communities and youth to increase their own resilience through sustainable urban farming.• Environmental Sustainability: Create a positive impact on the local urban environment through increased biodiversity, green spaces and improved air quality.

Young City Growers is an urban agriculture program connecting youth to sustainable urban farming opportunities in the Waterloo Region. Our CSA Micro Urban Farm at Laurier is a youth-led business that delivers fresh locally grown vegetables weekly to WLU Campus locations and is open to participating community members for weekly pick-ups. Proceeds from this Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) project will support green collar job opportunities for local youth in the future!
