Welcome to St. Xavier’s new school year! This year a few

Chemistry the teacher is teaching us online so it’s a new experience

for everyone. Also, our schedule is a little different so we had to

Welcome back volleyball players.

I hope you all enjoyed your sum-

mer, are well rested and ready to

kick some tail! The volleyball

season has just recently started,

so all of you sports fans out there

should come out to see a volley-

ball game or two. If you’re look-

ing for a fun, eventful and sus-

penseful time, this is the place to

go. Lets cheer our Lady Rams to

victory! Go Big Blue! During

break time if you need a drink or

a snack, we do have an amazing

concession stand so check it out.

First high school game was Sat-

urday Aug. 28 at Alma. Second

game was home, Tuesday the

31st VS Topeka played as well

for the junior high. Their next

game is a home game on Thurs-

day Sept. 9 VS Manhattan. Lets

during the

following

game.

Were all

proud of

our Lady

Rams.

Keep it up!

Lets give Mr. Keating some

recognition as well. He is our

high school girls’ volleyball

coach. He did an excellent job

coaching the girls through

their first tournament. Unfor-

tunately we didn’t win every

game. The girls, however, did

put forth one hundred percent

effort. They did even better

“Seeing the girls win

isn’t as important as

giving one hundred

percent.” Spoken like

a true coach, Mrs.

Powers. Lets all hope

for a good season and

cheer them to victory!

We would like to welcome back

Mrs. Melanie Powers, the junior

high volleyball coach for the last

4 years. She sure whips the girls

into shape. How does the team

look for this year, one might ask?

“Many of our returning players,

several 8th graders, who played

for 3 years know my philosophy.

ing to work together and commu-

The Lady Rams did an excellent job at

the tournament in Alma. They really got

fired up when they played. It was a

great warm-up for the season. First

game was against Centralia, and the

Lady Rams really stood their ground. It

was a tough team to play, but we did

show them a thing or two. The fans

were really proud of these girls. They

must have played five or six games each

with two rounds total. To tell you the

truth the girls were pooped by the end

of the day, Thank God there were rest

periods. Over, all the girls did excellent.

They really showed their Ram Pride

when they played Axtell. The first

round, starting with Guest, went as

so: Twenty-five to twenty, The last

round was an unfortunate turn of

events but it gave us knowledge and

skill for next time. The score was

twenty to fifteen. The game wasn’t

exactly in our favor but we did show

we needed a little work and better

communication. When the game Vs

Cair Paravel came, we showed that we

accomplished both and came out

strong! GO RAMS!!!

Like the junior high, our high school

Lady Rams did excellent at their

game Vs Cair Paravel. Mr. Keating

really showed off his coaching skills.

He led the girls to victory in the first

round with a score, starting with

Guest, of twenty-one to twenty five.

Following that round the Ladies lost

the second round with a score of

twenty-five to seventeen. They

weren’t ready to give up just yet!

They played their tails off. The last

round was probably the most sus-

penseful. The last round was a

game that I’m sure will give the la-

dies spark to get pumped up for

their next game. The score was

twenty-five to twenty-three. We

may not have won the game, but if

we were to talk to the other team

they would have agreed we did

amazing. The game kept many of

the fans on their toes.

cent. Now the “B” team seemed to

keep up the fighting spirit. They

started off with a score of ten to five.

They didn't quit there they really got

fired up and picked up their game to

win the second round with a ten to a

whopping fifteen points! Way to go

girls! With the ending of the last

round, they gave Cair Paravel a run

for their money with a score of ten to

eight.

The junior high girls did a good job on

their first game. First, they played

Cair Paravel from Topeka. They

played two rounds, starting with

Guest. The score was twenty-five to

seventeen in the first round and in the

second, twenty-five to twenty. Need-

less to say they did great during their

first game. Mrs. Powers did an ex-

tremely well at coaching them. The

girls seemed to give one hundred per-
