Removing the Drawers or Rollouts (Lateral Files)

TIP: When removing drawers,make sure to mark them inorder to replace them intotheir original positions.

1. Remove screws connecting drawer body to suspensions.

2. Toward the rear of the drawer, use a flat-blade screwdriver or pry bar to disengage the drawer body barbs from the suspensions.

3. Lift drawer out of suspensions.

4. Push extended drawer suspension back into the case to prevent damage and avoid injury.

5. If removing more than one drawer, de-activate the interlock of the opening from which the previous drawer was removed.

Removing the Drawers(Towers and WorkstationVerticals)

TIP: When removing drawers, make sure to mark them in order to replace them into their original position.

1. Pull drawer all the way out.

2. Depress tabs on each side of the drawer rails.

3. While depressing tabs, pull drawer straight out.

4. Push extended drawer suspension back into the case to prevent damage and avoid injury.

5. If removing more than one drawer, de-activate the interlock of the opening from which the previous drawer was removed.

NOTE: If installing the worksurface-to-tower connector, remove all drawers below the installation point to avoid getting metal shavings in the drawers.

Worksurface-to-Tower Connector

NOTE: Can be mounted on either side of tower.

NOTE: Make sure storage unit is level. Make sure the panel system is level, if the worksurface and/or tower is connected to a panel system.

NOTE: 24” deep worksurface will use the 24“ bracket & the 30” deep worksurface will use the 30“ bracket.

1. Hold the worksurface up next to the storage unit. Place level on worksurface as shown. Raise/Lower worksurface until level (1a). Using the bottom of the worksurface, mark a line (1b).

2. Back edge of bracket should be approx. 3/4” from back of storage unit. Place level on top of bracket and align top of bracket with marked line on previous step. Mark holes on storage unit (2a). Remove bracket and drill 5/16” diameter holes in storage unit (2b).

3. Remove screws from inner brace assembly (3a). The bracket will reside on the outside of the storage unit and the inner brace assembly will reside on the inside of the storage unit as shown (3b). Align the holes in the bracket and the storage unit with the weld nuts on the inner brace assembly and fasten with two (2) 1/4-20 screws.

4. Place worksurface on top of bracket and flush the rear of the worksurface with the rear of the storage unit. Install five (5) #10 x 1” wood screws to fasten worksurface to bracket.

Storage-to-Panel Connector (Answer or Montage Panels)

1. Level the panel system.

2. Level the storage unit in the location where it will be installed.

3. Install the bracket assembly by tilting the top hook into the slot (3a) then rotating the bottom down (3b). Make sure the safety clip is fully engaged into the panel slot. See step 9 on page 8 for clarity.

NOTE: For Answer panels, bottom hook must be installed in the first slot from the bottom. For Montage panels, use the only slots available.

4. Measure from the floor to the center of the bottom stud on the bracket assembly.

5. On the back of the storage unit, locate the corner that the bracket assembly will attach to the panel. Measure from the floor and mark a line on the back of the storage unit that is the same distance as measured in step 4.

6. Next, we will use the bracket assembly as a marking template. Remove the bracket assembly from the panel.Flip the bracket assembly upside down and nest in the corner of the storage unit (6a). Center the marked line in the small hole as shown (6b). Mark all small holes on the bracket assembly (6c). There will be two (2) holes for tall & low and three (3) holes for medium.

7. Remove bracket assembly and drill 5/16” diameter holes at all marked positions.

8. Flip the bracket assembly back to its upright position and reinstall onto panel as shown in step 3.

NOTE: Make sure the “UP” identification mark on the bracket assembly is pointing “up”.

9. Make sure the safety clip is fully engaged into the panel slot (9a). To verify the safety clip is engaged properly, lift up firmly on studs (9b). A properly installed clip will not allow the bracket assembly to move. If the bracket assembly moves up during the lifting action, check safety clip engagement again.

CAUTIONWhen properly installed, the bracket will not disengage when lifted up firmly. Do not exceed 8 ft-lb of nut torque. Storage-to-panel connectors can only be used with selectSteelcase storage products identified by the assembly directions. Read the entire Assembly Direction 939500592 before beginning installation. Obtain Assemby Directions from your local Steelcase dealer or by calling 1-888-783-3522.

10. Slide the storage unit up against the bracket assembly, making sure to line up the studs on the bracket assembly with the drilled holes on the back of the storage unit (10a). Install a 1/4-20 flanged hex nut and washer onto each stud from inside the storage unit (10b). Tighten to a maximum of 8 ft-lbs. Do not use an impact wrench for this installation.
