About the Pogramme

Human being are social animals. To build a strong society, the man and woman, both have to complement each other. Both have some strengths and weaknesses and to understand the same, Gender Sensitization comes in picture. Gender is used to describe those characteristics of men and women which are socially determined, in contrast to those which are biologically determined. Gender roles vary greatly from one culture to another and from one social, political, and economic group to another within the same culture. It should be obvious that the term 'Gender Sensitization' is extremely broad in scope and envelops and gives direction to problems related to gender issues. Gender Sensitization implies accepting the basic rights associated with Gender equality and non-discrimination towards those whose gender identity places them in a situation of disadvantage or vulnerability. Women empowerment is a global issue, which has gained momentum in recent decades as the development of society or a nation depends on the social as well as economic wellbeing of women. Empowerment of women involves a multidimensional focus and envisages greater access to knowledge, social and economic resources and greater autonomy in the economic and political decision making process, property rights, political representation, social equality, personal rights, and so on. Women's empowerment seeks change in the gender based discrimination of labour, equal access to food, health-care, education, credit and employment, ownership of assets and now, access to media. The seven day workshop strives to answer to the clarion call that true liberation of the humanity will not be possible without gender sensitization and Women Empowerment. This notion of gender equality is not only related to women, but it affects men also. The workshop seeks to involve both men and women against all kind of gender inequality and gender injustices. It also proposes to bridge the gap between theory and practice by focusing on the grassroots level of activist movement of political nature to end gender inequality. The workshop will be suitable for both genders and will cover all relevant aspects of Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment and to create a safe and healthy environment for women in the organization resulting into better output.Objectivesl To educate the participants about the status of women, gender inequalities, socio-cultural
