TRUMPF-STYLE Heavy Duty Tooling

The Heavy Duty system is designed to withstand the highertonnage associated with punching and nibbling thickermaterials. The punch is strengthened by having a largeshoulder, enabling it to withstand the higher forces involved. Italso has extra back taper as standard, reducing the gallingand pick-up often associated with thicker materials. Optima™coating will also greatly reduce this. The die is strengthened bya boss on the bottom making the effective thickness of the dielarger.

TRUMPF-STYLE Keyed Collar for Rotation Machine

The Wilson Tool Keyed Collar

● Fixed slots for greater accuracy andconsistency.

● Reduced downtime.No need to use Quick Set.

● Much faster than Quick Set allowing theoperator to carry out further tasks.

● Inherent accuracy reduces the reliance requiredon the operator.

● Consequent scrap rate reduction. The punch cannot turn at all during operation.

With the increase in the number of rotationmachines being used, the need for faster methodsof accurate set up is becoming ever greater. Tomeet this demand, Wilson Tool have designed thekeyed collar, giving greater accuracy and durabilitywhile reducing downtime.

The rotation feature of the machine enables the toolto remain in the holder for longer periods of timewithout being checked. For operators to takeadvantage of this opportunity and to eliminate therisk of punch movement and consequent scrap,Wilson Tool have developed a positive locationbetween the punch and collar. The movement risk isnow gone and the positioning is 100% reliable andrepeatable.

This system is more accurate than using Quick Setwith any of its inherent operational margins for error.

This time-saver works by simply placing the collaron the punch and tightening one screw. Thisprovides 100% accurate alignment every time!

This tool provides a more cost effective method of slitting,along with the advantages of closer stripping.The Wilson Tool design, on the 56 x 5mm avoids the halfmoon stripper locking up as on the old design. Wilson Toolsupplies parts for the old design as well as our newdesign. The collar is the same as used on the heavy dutytooling.

Design criteria:

This tool not only provides a more cost effective methodof slitting, but it gives a better quality finish on the edgeof the sheet. This is achieved by using rectangle withrads for the die blades combined with an obroundpunch. This die assembly combines HSS inserts with adie body manufactured from a shock resistant steel,giving the best combination for long life.

Die blades to suit indexing die holder are alsoavailable for use on non rotation machines

The parting tool punch holder is designed toaccept all three interchangeable punch blades(30 x 5mm, 56 x 5mm & 76.2 x 5mm), andspecial shapes which fit within a 76.2 x 5mm RT.

The blades have a regrind life of 3mm and theassembly is limited to use in up to 3mm material.The blades are supplied with rooftop shear asstandard, to reduce punching force and noise.The Parting Punch Assembly is permanently setat either 0° or 90° eliminating any risk ofmisalignment of the blade.

The Wilson Tool Parting ToolsThe parting tool punches and dies can be used to provide a more cost effective method of slitting. Insteadof replacing the entire punch and die, only new blades need to be re-ordered. There are two fixed collaroptions available, one at 0° and one at 90°. The fixed collar enables quicker set up times and greateraccuracy.

The blades are available in the following common slitting tool sizes:- 30.0mm x 5.0mm RT56.0mm x 5.0mm RT76.2mm x 5.0mm RT

However, special shapes and sizes can be produced to suit your application (e.g. special inverted diamondblades for microjointing).

PennNib S and PennNib C Blue are waterbased fluids developed specifically forpunching, nibbling and shearing operations. Italso helps in forming operations, as alubricated sheet marks much less than a non-lubricated sheet.

PennNib S is available in ready-mixedhandy 1 litre, ready to use, spraybottles.

PennNib C Blue is supplied as aconcentrate in 5 litre bottles, and isdilutable with water. The normal dilutionratio is 1:10 with water for mostoperations, and applied by brush orsprayed onto the material.
