Urethane Strippers

• Always in contact with the sheet

• Quiet and does not mark

• Punching close to forms

• Can be used on different punches (when opening too big, may be problem in thin material)

• NOT recommended for nibbling

• Best uses for urethane in Trumpf:– Special shape where the metal stripper is much more expensive and

the tool will take relatively few hits over time

– Tool that must punch after forming operations occur• Allows such tools to "punch from form height" with no risk of collision

between the metal stripper and the forms on the sheet

Urethane Strippers: Push-on vs. Molded

• Push-on– Good for most

applications

– Thin material

– Faster lead time

– Short life in thicker material

• Molded– Thin material

– Small dimensions

– Special shapes

– Longer lead time

Steel Strippers

• Resistant to deformation and breakage

• Long tool life• Can be set to either be engaged or

disengaged, contact with the sheet• Mate Advantage:

– Chamfer in opening– Combined with Next punches with

shim, punch can be sharpened 1.7mm more than competitor tools

– Maximum grind life of 9mm– Best Uses:

• Thick material – last longer than urethane

• NEXT punches when shim is used
