Get Connected at our Ministry Fair
We have many ministries here at Federated that will be start-ing up again in the fall, including some brand new ways to get connected and involved. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 25th, 6-8pm, a night you won’t want to miss here at Federated! By bringing your whole family to this event, you’ll not only enjoy great food, games, and fun activities, but you’ll also have the opportunity to:
• SignupyourfamilyforaLifeGroup• Registeryourchildrenforthefallchildren’sministries
(KZ church, AWANA, etc.)• Walkaroundfromboothtoboothatour“Ministry
Fair” to see the many ways that you can get involved here at Federated this fall
why Join a “life Group” this Fall?By Danny lightner
Reason#1:Digdeeperintothetopic/passage that Pastor Mike is preaching every SundayReason#2:Developsignificantrelation-
ships through true biblical fellowshipReason#3:Growspirituallythroughlife-
on-life situations
(If you missed the details of any of the above“reasonstojoinalifegroup”,youcanreadthemonthechurchwebsiteunderthe“Adult/SmallGroups”heading)
Reason # 4: Have a support network in your time of need
Most of us don’t like asking for help because it involves swallowing a certain amount of pride, admitting a weakness, inconveniencing others, or informing others of a situation that we’d rather not have anyone know about. As a result, we suffer silently, sometimesHOPINGthatsomeonewillcomealongandOFFERhelpwithoutushavingtoaskforit.
Have you ever been there? You take your car to the garage and receive the bad news that all of your brakes need to be replaced, andyoudon’thavethemoneytofixitrightnow.Soyou take the bus to work and just hope you’ll be able to save up themoneytogetthecarfixedbeforeschoolstarts, whenthekidswill need to be shuttled all over the place.
Or maybe you are at your wits end with how your strong-willed 2 year-old behaves, throwing food on the floor at meal times and throwing temper tantrums in the grocery store with every shopping visit. You’d like to ask some other parents for advice, but you reason that to ask for help would be admitting that you are not the best parent in the world, when it looks like all theotherparentshaveeverythingfiguredout!
Weallhavetimesinourliveswhenweareinneed.Some-times it is a physical need (money to pay the utility bill or help with mowing the lawn after foot surgery), and sometimes we areinneedofemotional/spiritualadvice(parenting,co-workerrelationships). When we try to go through life alone, suffering silently, wedepartfromGod’swillforourlives. Why?
1. God wants us to swallow our pride, and BOAST in our weaknesses. By admitting that we need help, we show the worldthatwearedependentuponGodandthebodyofChrist(2Cor.12:9).
2. We rob other people of the opportunity to serve. AssumeforaminutethatIamaChristianwhoisalsoanelectri-cian. My boss has been working me to the bone the last week because the company is approaching a deadline. You might think that to call me and ask for help installing a ceiling fan inyourbaby’sroomwouldbe“inconveniencing”me,butwhatyoudon’trealizeisthatILONGtodosomethingwithpurposetoday, where I can see that I’m making a difference in someone’s life.Comingoverandwiringyourceilingfansothatyourbabycan sleep more peacefully tonight would be a delight that would refreshmysoul!Don’trobmeofthechancetomakeasmalldifference in your life, not to mention gain some eternal reward atthesametime!(Matt.10:42)
JoiningaLifeGroupthisfallwillgiveyouaplacetogowhenyou are in need. And even if the people in your group can’t help you directly, they can certainly pray for you and point you in the right direction. And then when you are back on your feet again, YOU will be the one that can be a blessing to someone else in theirtimeofneed(moreonTHATnextweek…).

Marie and I wish to thank all of those who prayed for our family during my mom’s passing away this past weekend. We were both so moved by those who came to her visitation and funeral services, many of which did not know mom but came to encourage Marie and me. We are very grateful to them and thankful to be part of the Federated family.ScottJohnson
