All staff were so pleased to see our Bowman and Karoola house students return to school these past days. The children’s smiles and excitement to be back in the classroom have certainly been infectious. I’m sure this positivity will continue as Highbrook and Victoria students have their turns on Wednesday and Thursday. I’d like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the marvellous support families have shown by following the guidelines put in place for a phased return to school this term. Limiting adult and student numbers on the school site and communicating remotely enables us to optimise the safety of our whole school community. This, in turn, will help us to achieve a ‘return to normal’ as soon as possible. Remember that the Department of Education’s Support learning from home is a fabulous site for families. It contains many ideas and practical resources to support learning and wellbeing at home. This site is constantly being updated with new links and includes podcasts, audio books, virtual excursions, learning resources, translated resources, ideas for ‘offline’ activities to engage family members and support on learning platforms such as Google Classroom. I urge you to take a look! https://education.nsw.gov.au/parents-and- carers/learning-from-home Please note, however, that the above site is different to our own Learning from Home Hub which was developed by us here at MPS to provide a ’one stop shop’ for K-6 timetables and information specific to our school setting. https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/mpslearningfromhomehub On a final note, I encourage you all to contact your child’s class teacher, our Deputy Principal (Clive Kerrigan) or me if you have any individual needs or questions. We are all here to support students and families in any way possible – big or small. All going well, we really look forward to seeing more of you, more often, within just weeks. Stay safe. Kind regards, Fiona Lewis Relieving Principal

Dear Parents and Carers, We are pleased to advise that the Year 6 shirts have been delivered. Please note that shirts will be handed out to the students on their rostered day of school. If your child/children are not returning to school this week, please contact the school to arrange an alternate collection time. You may also choose to wait until your child does return to school to collect their shirt. Students will be permitted to wear their Year 6 shirt on their rostered day of school eg: if you child is in Karoola they will be allowed to wear their shirt on Tuesday. As we move through the phased return to school the ruling around wearing the Year 6 shirt may change. We thank you for your ongoing co-operation.

Students begin to return to face to face learning.

Kindergarten can be seen here enjoying story time and engaging in face to face learning in the classroom.

A big welcome back to all of our Kindergarten students, you all have shown such resilience to change and your ability to adapt in these uncertain times has been amazing.

It is amazing to have these special little people back in their classrooms learning and absorbing knowledge to set themselves up for their schooling years ahead.

Parents and carers, you should be extremely proud of these little people.

Welcome back! We missed you!

IMPORTANT REMINDER

We would like to remind families that the school is a limited access area to ensure the wellbeing of our students and staff at this time. To achieve this we ask that students are dropped off and picked up from outside the school grounds. Please note that a teacher will be present at the bottom gate, hall gate and

front gate at both drop off and pick up times.

If you need to speak with a member of staff we ask you to phone the office on 6543 2500 or alternatively send an email to your child’s teacher.

We again thank you for your ongoing assistance and understanding in these unprecedented times.

Please note that the Canteen has not reopened at this stage. Please ensure your child/children bring their fruit, lunch and

recess with them each day.

As a result of unprecedented times, we are unable to confirm if the biennial School Fete will take place in 2020 as planned. Muswellbrook Public School relies on the support from our school community and wider community to raise funds at the School Fete to improve the school as a whole.

Throughout the course of Term 2, Muswellbrook Public School will run a number of fundraisers to enable us to improve facilities such as playground equipment, assist with grounds maintenance and enhance the education of our students and future students by improving classroom resources. Yesterday, Monday 11th May 2020, we kicked off with an opportunity to win tickets for two beyond the clouds with Balloon Aloft. Students will receive a booklet of four tickets which can be purchased for $5 each. Tickets are being sent home with students on their rostered day of school. If your child/children are not returning to school this week, feel free to make arrangements with the school for the tickets to be collected. We kindly ask that families return the tickets sold or unsold by Friday 3rd July 2020.
