Review: What is Lent?Three traditional practices of Lent are:

1. prayer (justice towards God)2. fasting (justice towards self)3. giving to the poor (justice towards neighbor)

Some believers choose to give up a vice, add something to their life that will bring them closer

to God, and often give the time or money spent on vices to church or other charitable purposes.

Agree or Disagree:

“Time is money”

“Our Sacrifice of Time” Why is time more valuable

than money? “Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back.” Pastor Rick Warren, pg 127 of Purpose Driven Life

“Our Sacrifice of Time” Character Study: King Hezekiah

“Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was never another king like him in the land of Judah, either before or after his time. So the LORD was with him,

and Hezekiah was successful in everything he did.” - 2 Kings 18:5, 7a

Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this

illness.’” - 2 Kings 20:1

“Our Sacrifice of Time” Character Study: King Hezekiah

"Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, `This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your

tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the LORD. I will add 15 years to

your life.’” - 2 Kings 20:5-6a

“Our Sacrifice of Time”

Redeeming the Time

Most of us have no idea how long we will live. Why not make the

most of every day by investing the time we have on earth in things

that reap eternal dividends?

“Our Sacrifice of Time”

Redeeming the Time

For Lent, take a moment to reflect on the many ways that we waste

time in things that have no eternal significance.
