Across a spectacular site of 240 acres the Showground features six sizeable indoor venues, numerous meeting, conference & exhibition spaces, a permanent road infrastructure, site-wide catering & bathroom facilities and extensive car parking.

Whether accommodating 10 people or 100,000 the extremely adaptable environment, with its range of facilities and resources, can be tailored to suit any event.

The Showground Team will be on hand every step of the way and are dedicated to the success of your event whatever its shape or size.

Held at the Showground in 1970, the record-breaking Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music - featuring the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd & Frank Zappa - inspired Michael Eavis to establish Glastonbury Festival.

DID YOU KNOW...The Society’s Archive - the biggest private archive held in the Guildhall, Bath - contains a documentary record of the Society’s activities from its foundation in 1777 to the present day, including; minute-books, accounts, correspondence, papers, press-cuttings, photographs and an abundance of other historical items.

The Royal Bath & West of England SocietyEstablished on 8 September 1777 by an assembly of philanthropists, philosophers and agriculturalists in Bath; the Royal Bath & West of England Society seeks to encourage and improve agriculture, manufactures, commerce and rural arts in the West of England.

From its home at the Bath & West Showground in the heart of Somerset the Society realises these charitable objectives through an array of activities, projects and events; the most famous of which is the Royal Bath & West Show. The Society’s other events include The Dairy Show, Grassland UK and the Field to Food Learning Day.

As an agricultural charity the Society has a remit to offer awards, grants and scholarships for the promotion of agriculture and rural arts. This remit manifests through programmes such as The Prince of Wales Award, Environmental Youth Awards, Art Scholarship and Long Service Awards.

Since its construction in 1965 the Bath & West Showground has played host to a wide range of events; from meetings, conferences and private parties to exhibitions, world class sports and record-breaking music festivals.

Purchased by the Royal Bath & West of England Society as a permanent home for the, until then, travelling Royal

Bath & West Show, the Showground quickly established itself as a key player in the region and an essential part of the local community; offering inside and outside spaces suitable for local, private use and much larger scale events of national and international renown.

DID YOU KNOW...A rich vein of sport runs through the Showground, which has hosted boxing bouts involving the likes of Frank Bruno and Prince Naseem, the BMX World Championships and a ‘Sport for the Disabled’ competition that has seen contestants go on to take part in the Paralympics.

Today the Showground is a vibrant, versatile destination offering a variety of inspiring indoor and outdoor spaces.The venue’s adaptable nature with its combination of

various sized rooms, halls, pavilions and superb external areas, means that both the simplest and most demanding of events can be serviced with ease.

The Showground is also home to an Extreme Off-road 4x4 course, fabulous miniature railway, beautiful lake and a purpose-built sports facility for the disabled.
