What is Differentiated Instruction(DI)?• DI means changing the pace, level, or kind of instruction

in response to learners’ styles.• Enhances learning for all students by engaging them in

activities that better respond to their:• Particular learning needs• Strengths• Preferences

Class Focus:• Rigorous: Assignments that will motivate

students to push themselves. • Relevant: Students will make real-life

connections, as lessons align with the IB (International-Baccalaureate) and MYP (Middle Years Program) curriculum.

• Flexible and Varied: Students make choices about how they will learn and show mastery.

• Complex: Challenge students’ thinking and actively engage them in-depth content and higher level thinking.

My Goal:• Challenge and engage ALL students

through providing them with opportunities to make choices and work in a variety of instructional formats.

What does DI look like?• Interest Inventory – what type of learner are you?

(linguistic, logical, kinesthetic, visual, etc.)• Pre-assessments and Pretests – background for making

modifications and challenges as needed• Projects, Presentations, and Performances – Students

can present information through their interests and strengths

• Project Menus – allowing students to choose assignments that appeal to them and present their learning in a variety of ways
