Junior Counselor Information

• Get facts about what college costs.• Search together for colleges that meet your

student’s needs.• Visit colleges together (all sizes of schools).• Look into summer opportunities on college

campuses.• Help your student research scholarships.

• Attend college fairs & financial aid events.• Start thinking of adults (employers, teachers,

or others) who can write a college letter of recommendation for you.

• Encourage your student to take the SAT or ACT in the spring.

• Help your student to stay organized.

How Do Students Use Naviance During the School Day?

• High School Advisory Periods – Naviance Lessons and Follow Up are inserted into the

Advisory Lesson Schedule. Most activities can be easily completed in a 30 minute timeframe.

– Laptop access makes it easy for students to complete Naviance activities or re-visit them outside of class if needed.

• Counselor Led Sessions in Classrooms– Course Planning, Registration, College Application Process,

Scholarship Searching• Teacher Led Lessons

– Many Naviance activities fit nicely into existing curriculum.

Naviance Access Parent Letters

• The Kent School District is happy to announce that we now have parent access codes available so that you can log into Naviance.

• This access allows you to support your student with:• Culminating Project Task monitoring• College Searching• Career Information• PSAT/SAT Preparation

• And much more!!

•You have the opportunity to pick up your Naviance access code letters tonight at Open House.

•They are available in the main commons where you pick up student schedules.

•Please stop by the commons and pick up your letter(s) before leaving this evening.

• If your child does not complete a Math formativeassignment, your child will recommended toMath Learning Lab for assistance.

• Math Learning Lab began September 12th and will be after school Tuesdays and Thursdays.

• If your child is missing summative work, yourchild needs to see their teacher to make a plan for completing the work.
