DESCRIPTION

The Naviance College and Career Readiness Curriculum is a blended learning experience for students in grades 6-12 that helps develop critical non-cognitive skills and college knowledge and instills confidence so that students persevere. In this presentation, Curriculum experts Kim Oppelt and Upendra Jejjala present the problems facing today's schools and students, preview the Curriculum lessons, and the highlight the results of the pilot program.

We look forward to introducing the Naviance College and Career Readiness Curriculum.

Presenters

, Kim Oppelt has worked in a wide variety of education and consulting roles, including as a school counselor at an urban public high school and a private Catholic high school. At Hobsons, Kim has worked closely with school administrators, counselors, and teachers to implement Naviance. She earned a MS in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and is pursuing her Doctor of Education in Leadership from St. Mary's University. She has presented at numerous national and regional conferences. Kim is the lead author of the Naviance College & Career Readiness Curriculum.

Presenters

, Upendra Jejjala started his career in higher education, serving a number of capacities, including database and technical support, recruitment, and faculty and student support services. He later became a program manager that oversaw the delivery of computer-based testing solutions for K-12 assessments and professional certifications. He joined Hobsons as a member of the K-12 support services team and is now the product manager of the Naviance College and Career Readiness Curriculum.

Foundations of The Naviance Curriculum

College readiness includes concepts important to students; including college application procedures, knowledge to research college characteristics, academic preparation for post-secondary readiness, and financial aid comprehension. College readiness also incorporates positive non-cognitive skills such as self-efficacy, motivation, determination, and social behaviors.
