THE ETHICS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY IN THE ARTS PRESENTATIONS & PANEL DISCUSSION “Who is your muse?” has been a quintessential question posed to artists for centuries. Today, some of the creatives at the helm of art, design, architecture, and storytelling may just answer: Artificial Intelligence. AI has written symphonies, painted works of art, and created movie trailers. AI and virtual technology are embedding themselves into the creative process and culture everywhere, fostering a dialogue with the artist and redefining what it means to be creative. But what is also being redefined and redrawn are the lines between fantasy and reality, between what is real and what is “fake”. The second edition of the Frankfurt AI Conference looks at what AI and technology mean for the future of culture and the creative sector – and what the ethical implications are as we challenge existing perceptions of reality. / Cameron-James Wilson (Fashion Photographer; Creator of Shudu, the world’s first digital supermodel, London) / Assaf Reeb (Designer, Digital Fashion Pioneer and Co-Founder, IVA, Berlin) / Prof. Dr. Katharina Zweig (Professor and Director, Algorithm Accountability Lab, TU Kaiserslautern) / Kenza Ait Si Abbou Lyadini (Senior Manager Robotics & Artificial Intelligence, Deutsche Telekom) / Dr. Louis Moreno (Artist and Researcher, Goldsmiths University, London) / Prof. Dr. Roberto Zicari (Goethe University/Big Data Lab, Frankfurt) / Dr. Nathalie Weidenfeld (author “Digitaler Humanismus”, Berlin) 12.30 – 1.00 PM THE ARTS+ MARKETPLACE 4.1 Q73 GUIDED TOUR THE ARTS+ ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOCUS: FILM 12.30 – 1.15 PM THE ARTS+/B3 SALON, 4.1 R71 WOMEN – THE REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN?! Innovation and collaboration are omnipresent buzzwords seem-ingly driving growth across the entire cultural and creative sector. And though there are indeed many examples of projects that break down silos and are cross-sectoral success stories, the road to collaboration can be challenging. On Thursday, we give the floor to creatives who have innovated across platforms, sectors, and countries, notably in the publishing industry.

“Who is your muse?” has been a quintessential question posed to artists for centuries.

They run the risk of perpetuating power structures, societal inequalities and biases. And constantly challenge our perception and notions of authenticity and reality. But new technolo-gies also have the potential to democratise knowledge, education and culture. They give museums and cultural institutions the opportunity to make their collections and content available for free to a wider audience as well as make them more inclusive and accessible.
