**4 week Sector Based Work Academy with Sheffield City Council for people wanting to start a career in Construction**

This is an opportunity for people wanting to start a career in the Construction industry to get 2 weeks construction training ‘crash course’ in one or two of the following: Bricklaying, Electrical, Plastering, Plumbing, Sealants, Roofing, Joinery or Painting & Decorating and a two week work experience placement on the Manor Boot housing development site in S2.

Selection sessions will be at Bailey Court Jobcentre on Wednesday 26th February 20 at 10:30am and 12pm in the basement area.

Training will start Monday 2/3/20 to Friday 13/3/20 for 2 weeks followed by a 2 week placement on Manor Boot housing development site 16/3/20 to 27/3/20.

Construction Mentoring Circle

Open to all Jobcentre plus customers aged 18-24 interested in working in this sector.

JCP Mentoring Circle initiative is intended to support young people who are aged 16-24 giving them an opportunity to build on their employability skills through facilitating an interaction with employers.

The main aim of Mentoring Circles is to increase the confidence, motivation and job search skills of the jobseekers to help them move closer to employment by raising their aspirations and fostering a can do approach. During the Mentoring Circles employers from the Construction sector will share their experiences with mentees who will receive advice on their CVs, job applications, a chance to practice interviews and employability skills.

Mentoring Circle is a three structured meetings with the employers lasting 2 hours each week over 3 weeks,

Session 1 - Tuesday 11/2/20 (10am-12pm),

Session 2 - Tuesday 18/2/20 (Site visit – Time TBC)

Session 3 - Tuesday 25/2/20 (10am-12pm)
