INTRODUCTION

The socio-economic changes and the rapid growth of electronic media have resulted

in the increased development of ready to wear garments. Being well dressed has become a part of everyday life. It is one of the factors for enhancing the personality of a person and receiving appreciation in social life. This in turn has lead to rapid industrialization and growth of fashionable garment manufacturing units.

These manufacturing units employ well trained manpower who are aware of present fashion trends, quality expectation and modern techniques of garment manufacturing. Keeping this aspect in view the present demand in the market for variety garments the present curriculum of fashion and garment making has been developed so that the student acquires training suited to the garment industries and related areas. An insight in this area will enhance the opportunity of the student to also become a freelance designer in the ever growing fashion industries.

EVALUATION OF ON THE JOB TRAINING:

The “On the Job Training” shall carry 100 marks for each year and pass marks is 50. During on the job training the candidate shall put in a minimum of 90 % of attendance.

The evaluation shall be done in the last week of January.

Marks allotted for evaluation:

NOTE: The On the Job Training mentioned is tentative. The spirit of On the Job training is to be maintained. The colleges are at liberty to conduct on the job training according to their local feasibility of institutions & industries. They may conduct the entire on the job training periods of (363) I year and (450) II year either by conducting classes in morning session and send the students for OJT in afternoon session or two days in week or weekly or monthly or by any mode which is feasible for both the college and the institution. However, the total assigned periods for on the job training should be completed. The institutions are at liberty to conduct On the Job training during summer also, however there will not be any financial commitment to the department.
