With every piece of Vetfleece purchased a donation is made to the RSPCA, helping the charity with their mission to prevent cruelty, promote kindness and alleviate suffering of animals.The RSPCA are the oldest animal welfare charity and were the first to introduce a law to prevent and stop animal cruelty. They have continued their hard work towards ensuring no animal suffers, whether this be a pet, wild animal or farm livestock.Last year alone the RSPCArescued over 102,900animals.

Our love towards all animals is what has driven us towards our partnership with the RSPCA. We aim to support their values of ensuring that every pet is cared for and has a good home, ending cruelty to pets, raising standards for animals kept as pets worldwide and stopping pet over population.We proudly promote the RSPCA on all of our fleeces by featuring them on our label, with the aim to raise awareness of the charity and all the fantastic work they do.



Here at Vetfleece, we manufacture super soft pet bedding that is used by those involved in the care and welfare of animals. It has been designed for use in kennels, crates and domestic homes for dogs, cats and a variety of other animals.Our third-generation family run business was created by people who passionately believe in providing the best quality products, value for money, and first-class customer service. We started selling medical grade fleece to the NHS over 35 years ago, this knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing process lead us to open our own mill in the sunny town of Bridlington in Yorkshire. The extensive investment in our new mill gave us more control over the quality of the fleece we produce and enables our team to closely monitor the quality of every piece of Vetfleece that is sent out.

Our Managing Director, Richard, has an engineering background and a great passion for selecting the perfect machines to manufacture Vetfleece. Our experienced mill team know our carding, knitting, back coating and shearing machines inside out, and are amungst just a handful of people in the UK who have the knowledge and expertise to work with these complicated machines. From start to finish, the production of our Vetfleece is closely monitored to make sure that every piece we send to our customers is the best quality available on the market. The personal touches and family values of Vetfleece means that our customers are always our number one priority and a high percentage of our orders are through personal recommendations.

Vetfleece is made almost entirely from polyester, the backing yarn and fibres being polyester, and the backing acrylic.

We manufacture Vetfleece in our own Mill in Bridlington, following a four-stage process of carding the fibres, knitting the backing fabric, interweaving the fibres to provide the pile and shearing the height, this provides us with our super soft high pile fleece.

To finish we add the backing to the fleece which would be either our original green backing or the nonslip backing before it travels through a large oven which cures the coating.

The finished fleece bedding is then cut into our range of sizes by our automated cutting machine, and finally a mechanical rolling machine packs the Vetfleece into a small roll, this reduces storage and distribution charges, and helps protect the fleece whilst on its journey to our customers.

HOW ITS MADE


Here at Vetfleece, we endeavour to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The polyester fibre that makes up the super soft Vetfleece is made from 100% recycled water bottles which reduces landfill waste.

We feel addressing our footprint on the environment is of utmost importance, and are committed to making sure our production is sustainable. The technologies used in our Mill are eco-friendly consequently reducing greenhouse gases.

We are very proud of the quality of our Vetfleece; its durability and longevity means it can last years when cared for correctly without the need to replace.

We always prioritise locally sourcing our materials to reduce transportation miles.

Also, we make sure any left over Vetfleece is put to good use elsewhere, whether this be comfy filling for our dog beds or insulation.

How tocare foryourVetfleece

In just a few easy steps we can help youkeep your Vetfleece as good as new.

Can you wash Vetfleece at 95 degrees?Yes, our Standard and Heavy Duty Greenbackcan be but not our Nonslip Vetfleece, this is not our recommended washing temperature, although it is considered the ideal tempera-ture if you have had an unwell pet using the fleece, or if it is used in a kennels situation. These washing instructions are only to be used with genuine Vetfleece we take no responsibility if you use these washing instruc-tions on non genuine Vetfleece. We recom-mend the fleece is washed before it is used to avoid the problem of any loose fibres.

Can you use bleach to clean Vetfleece?No, and there is no need to as Vetfleece does not harbour bacteria.

Can you dry clean Vetfleece? No, as dry cleaners use various chemicals andthese chemicals can damage the fleece.The chemicals they use could also be harmful for animals.

Can I autoclave Greenback and Heavy Duty Vetfleece? Yes, and this is normally done at veterinary practices and kennels where the fleece is getting used by many different pets to make sure diseases are not spread.It is not advisable to autoclave Non-Slip.


All of our Vetfleece comes with a sewn on washing label. We recommend that the Vetfleece is washed at 40ºC, but the Greenback and Heavy Duty Vetfleece can handle much higher washing temperatures of up to Autoclavable standard 120ºC, which is normally used in veterinarian practices to kill all bacteria.Please be aware that washing at this temperature does shorten the life time of the fleece if used all the time. Why not try a Vetfleece Laundry Bag for washing your fleece, to avoid any loose fibres clogging up your washing machine.

Will washing Vetfleecekill fleas?No, and this is not advised as you could contaminate your wash-ing machine withthe fleas. If you do have fleas on the Vetfleece or pet bedding talk to your vet about the correct treatment for your pet and their bedding. Once the fleas have been eradicated, wash your Vetfleece to make sure it is safe for your pets.

Will the backing come off?The backing will not come off under normal usage, but if you own a pet who likes to scratch, a small amount of the backing might come off.

How to dry Vetfleece?Vetfleece can be dried bytumble drying (at a lowtemperature), by hangingoutside on the washingline or inside on a clotheshorse.

Will fabric Conditionereffect it?Yes, this can effect itsproperties, we recommend that youDO NOT USE fabric conditioner.

Will Vetfleece shrink inthe wash?There is a small chancethat a minimal amount ofshrinkage can occur onthe first washes.

Does the fibre come out?No, the fibre does notshed, but you may see afew bits of loose fibrearound the edge fromwhere it was cut whenyou first unpack yourVetfleece, you may alsosee some shedding as the fibres get broken, byscratching etc.

Can you tumble dry Vetfleece?Yes, but only on a low heat.

Can you iron Vetfleece?No, as it is made frompolyester, which wouldcause it to melt and stickto the iron.

premium first aid kit to help you be prepared to assist your pet when they need medical

attention. Our first aid kit prepares you to deal with most common emergencies.

To check your pets heart rate, place your hand on their chest, you may need to move around a

couple of times until you can feel the heart pulse. Count how many pulses you feel over 15 seconds and then multiply this by 4 to get beats

for per minute. You may feel the pulse skip when your pet breaths, this is normal, dogs an

cats have sinus arrhythmia (basically, their heart skips a beat when they breathe).

You can also check your dogs heart rate by places two fingers on your dogs thigh.

To check your dogs respiratory rate count how many times their chest expands outward for 10

seconds and multiply by 6 to give you their breaths per minute.

Shake your Vetfleeceoutside to remove any loose pet hairs, then any stubborn hairs will be removed whilst washing.We recommend the use of one our Laundry Bags to keep any excess fibres in the bag rather than the washing machine.

What's thedifference betweenNon-Slip andGreenback?

The main differenceis the backing, Non-Slip is made fromsynthetic latex andthe Greenback has anacrylic backing. Non-Slip is perfect for domestic homes with wooden or tiled floors and theGreenback is commonly used for whelping, or with younger animals. The Non-Slip andStandard Greenbackhave a fleece pileheight of between25mm and 28mm.

Is Non-Slip Vetfleece suitable for whelpingbitches?

We recommend thatyou use Standard orHeavy Duty Greenback for whelping bitches.This is because the backing allows the passage of bodily fluids keeping mum and pups warm and dry.It is a more robust fleece for the sharp little teeth of puppies or kittens.We would also recommend the use of an Inconti-Pet training pad under the Vetfleece to help soak up any accidents.


Can Vetfleece be used for lining a crate?

Yes, you can cut down the size of your Vetfleece to fit all cages. We wouldrecommend the Non-Slip is used in transport crates.

Can Vetfleece beused with incontinence pads?

Our Inconti-Pettraining pads areperfect for using withVetfleece. They canbe placed under yourfleece to help withthe prevention ofwater trails from thewhelping box or pen.

How to cut Vetfleeceat home?

You can cut Vetfleece at home by using a Stanley type craft knife, accompanied by a marker pen and ruler, this will ensure the best results forcutting.We advise you to use a craft knife and NOT a pair of scissors, as scissors will cut through the pile of the fleece leaving a tapered edge.Simply use a ruler and marker pen to draw a line on the back of the fleece, then safely use the craft knife to cut through the backing.

How do I remove creases from the fleece?

Due to the way yourVetfleece is packaged it may have slight creases when it is first opened.Simply lay out your new fleece on the floor and use a brush to manipulate the fibres in the same direction.

What happens if my dog eatsor chews the fleece?

Please seek veterinary advice straight away.Vetfleece has a tough and tightly knit backing toprevent your pet eating the fleece but there aresome pets that will stop at nothing to eat their

beds. Please advise your vet; Vetfleece is made ofPolyester which is non-irritant, non-allergenicand non-toxic, so should pass through your pet

without any problems.

Faulty or incorrect goods:If, upon receipt, you find that the items have been damaged in transit, are faulty in some way or have been incorrectly supplied, please contact us within 24 hours.
