What is a Camp Card
Unit Leadership
• The Camp Card initiative is designed to support your unit’s year-long program and help all your Scouts earn their way to Day Camp, Sleep-over Camp, Summer Camp or NYLT.
• Participating units will earn 50% commission ($2.50) for each $5.00 card they sell if the unit settles the account by April 19th, 2019.
• The sale begins February 6th and ends on April 1st.• Each Camp Card sells for $5.00 and will have multiple food, service
and entertainment discounts for the customer to use throughout the year.
• This program is RISK FREE; units pay nothing up front and can return unsold cards at settlement on or before April 19th.
Sign up form can be found atwww.glaciersedge.org/campcards
Each unit should have a Camp Champion. The Camp Champion manages all aspects of the Camp Card Sale and clearly communicate sale information to leaders, parents and Scouts.
The Camp Champion should be an expert on all things “camp”; they must ensure Scouts know about the summer camp opportunities available and encouraged them to attend.
The Camp Champion’s ultimate goal: Get 100% of the unit’s Scouts to a
Summer Camp!FOR CAMP

• Encourage all your Scouts to attend Day Camp, Sleep-over Camp and/or Summer Camp.
• Attend a Council Summer Camp Kick-off Training (Cub Scout Only)• Schedule a camp promotion kickoff meeting with your unit to
promote summer camp opportunities.• Explain to parents the importance of summer camp in Scouting!• Set a goal for percentage of Scouts attending camp and achieve it!

You are NOT selling “discount Cards”
You are sellingSCOUTING
Make sure your families understand that they are selling character, a better community and the benefits of Scouting SUMMER CAMPS! Not “discount cards”. Emphasize that each card sold supports Scouting in their local community for the year and helps Scouts go to camp. Your sale will be successful because people want to support young people who are earning their own way.
Sales TechniquesYour job as a Camp Champion is to get every Scout to Summer camp and to teach your Scouts how to sell. To get there, your team needs to employ multiple sales methods. Create a plan and train your Scouts in all methods; this will give you the best results.
Door to Door: Take your Sales Kit and Cards for a triparound the neighborhood. Highlight the great coupons!
Sell at Work: A great way for Mom and Dad to help their Scout. Have them take the Sales Kit to their workplace.
Friends and Family: Reach out to friends and family and invite them to purchase a camp card.
Storefront: Work with a local store to set up a booth and sell cards to those who pass by. You may sell in front of camp card vendor stores, but be sure to communicate with the store manager prior!
Don’t miss the opportunity to use the Camp Card Sale to train your Scouts in public speaking, sales, and service. Your Scouts and parents will appreciate the effort and sales will improve.
Have Scouts role play and practice during your kick-off. Find a way to make training fun and reward Scouts who do a good job.
Have your Scouts practice these simple steps:• Wear your uniform, because this is an official BSA Fundraiser• Smile and tell them who you are – First name only!• Tell them where you are from. (Your Pack or Troop)• Tell them what you are doing (earning money to attend Day Camp,
Sumer Camp etc.).• Ask them to help you by purchasing a Camp Card.
(TIP: ask them to buy 4 cards to help you get to camp)• Close the sale and thank them.
Be sure to review these safety and courtesy tips with your Scouts and parents.
• Sell with another Scout or with your parents (if selling with adult leaders who are not your parents, there should be more than one adult to satisfy BSA’s two-deep leadership standard).
• NEVER enter anyone’s home, sell after dark, unless with an adult.• Don’t carry large amounts of cash.• Always walk on the sidewalk and driveway and be careful of dogs.
The Fine PrintCommissionsThe unit earns a commission of $2.50 per card sold if your unit is paid in full and all cards returned by 5pm on Friday, April 19th 2019; after April 19th the Unit’s settlement is considered late, the commission drops to 30% ($1.50) and campership prizes will not be honored. Commissions from the sales are encouraged to be applied directly toward sending youth to summer camp programs, but they may be used as the unit committee sees fit. Units do not have to pay for any cards up front.
Return PolicyCamp Cards can be returned to the local Scout office by 5:00pm Friday, April 19th 2019. The cards MUST be in new condition (including snap off discounts). Councils Service Center staff reserves the right to refuse product that has been damaged or rendered unsellable. The unit is responsible for ANY unreturned cards (lost, misplaced, damaged etc.) Be sure Scouts and parents treat each card as if it were a $5.00 bill.
Campership Prize Program Policies (overview on page 4)Campership prizes earned are submitted via the Unit Camp Card Receipt that is submitted during settlement. Camperships cannot be sold or transferred to another Scout/Unit and have no cash value. Camperships are only good for camps operated by the Glacier’s Edge Council during the 2019 calendar year. Units must settle their account on time to qualify for campership rewards. Only one campership may be earned per Scout. 50% camperships are based off the regular fee price due by May 1st. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR CAMP PRIOR TO SETTLING CAMP
CARD SALES.
Orders and Re-DistributionOur council will place an order based off pre-orders received in December. A good supply of extra cards will be ordered. While supplies last, extra cards may be secured through the council service centers, or your District Executive.
Re-Distribution: Units that have completed their sale early and have left over cards should plan to return unsold cards in March. These cards will be re-distributed to units that wish to sell more cards. All unreturned cards must be paid for at settlement. Units may settle the account at your local scout office between April 1st and April 19th.
