Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we will host High School Hornet Pride at VCHS and Middle School Hornet Pride at VCMS. I encourage all 7-12 student-athletes to get registered for Hornet Pride by visiting: https://valleycenterhornets.com/hornet-pride-summer-weights-2/ KSHSAA policy requires that each student-athlete have at least 10 days (15 days for football) of school led conditioning (Hornet Pride Program) before participating in summer camps. For that reason, our camps have been pushed back to the end of June and July. Page 2 of this document will outline each camp being offered and the information you need to register. We are still hoping to offer youth camps in July. Those will be communicated out in late June or early July when we have more information as it relates to the state and country restrictions. The last few pages of this document will outline the USD 262 Guidelines for hosting activities on school grounds this summer. All participants need to read those guidelines prior to reporting for any activity. It is required that all student-athletes complete the online waiver before they can begin participating in any USD 262 activity, including Hornet Pride and Camps. Parents can digitally sign that waiver at: https://forms.gle/ZDPGvGazeyP47NzD6 More information will come for each specific event this summer from the head coaches directly. If you have any general questions feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] or to new athletic director Chris Asmussen at [email protected] Middle School related questions can be directed to Jordan Funk at [email protected] Have a great summer! Motivate Improve Never Give Up Determined Self-Control Effort

Teamwork

To all athletes interested in playing VCHS Volleyball and Parents/Guardians,

Hi! We hope that you and your family are doing well. Thank you for your efforts to complete the school

year strong! You overcame obstacles and learned new academic strategies through continuous learning!

We are proud of all of your efforts!

We would like to provide information regarding team camp and summer improvement opportunities.

Due to COVID-19, last week the USD 262 Board Of Education approved a gradual phase in process. The

complete district phase in process can be found HERE. Hornet Pride (HP) will begin on Monday June 1st.

The HP registration link can be found HERE, the registration deadline is Wednesday May 27th.

The VCHS Volleyball Team Camp will be Monday July 20th through Thursday July 23rd from 10:00 am -

12:00 pm at the VCHS main gym. The volleyball team camp registration link can be found HERE. In order

to safely meet the USD 262 board policies as well as KSHSAA policies the following will occur:

1. Per KSHSAA policy (complete policy found HERE), each athlete must complete 10 days of

conditioning prior to volleyball team camp. This can be accomplished by participating in Hornet

Pride sessions in which attendance will be taken daily with a thorough check-in process.

2. Each parent/guardian must sign the district COVID-19 waiver. This will be available prior to the

start of Hornet Pride.

3. For the past two years, the high school players have assisted with the middle school and youth

volleyball camps. Unfortunately, the high school players will not have the opportunity to assist

with the middle school camp this summer. The youth volleyball camp is postponed until further

notice. This situation is necessary to safely meet all district and KSHSAA guidelines.

Focus on MINDSET! Remember to stay motivated, continue to improve, never give up, stay determined,

use self control with effort to achieve teamwork! Continue to stay active and be kind to your mind. We

look forward to seeing you this summer! Please take care and be safe! Feel free to reach out to the

coaches if you need anything!

Hello VCHS Cross Country Athletes and Families, Greetings! We hope that you and your family are continuing to stay safe and well during these unprecedented times. We also wanted to say congratulations on finishing up the school year via continuous learning! You met the challenge of learning in a new way head on and you should be proud of that! At this time we have some information we wanted to share with you regarding cross country camp and summer conditioning. On Monday, the USD 262 board of education approved a gradual reopening process for our district. The complete district reopening plan can be found here. Hornet Pride will start on June 1st. You can signup for Hornet Pride here. Regarding cross country camp (July 13th-16th, 6pm-8pm at VCHS), in order to safely meet the USD 262 board policies as well as KSHSAA policies we will be taking the following steps:

1) Per KSHSAA policy, each athlete must complete 10 days of conditioning prior to cross country camp. You can do this by attending a Hornet Pride session during which you will be allowed to go on a run for your workout. The complete KSHSAA policy can be found here.

2) Each parent/guardian must sign the district COVID-19 waiver. This will be available prior to the start of Hornet Pride. More information to come.

3) For this year, cross country camp will be separated into two camps: high school and middle school. Both camps will be on July 13th-16th from 6pm-8pm but 9th-12th graders will be at VCHS for camp and 7th-8th graders will be at VCMS for camp. Although this is not what we wanted to have happen, it is what is necessary to safely meet all district and KSHSAA guidelines. Both the high school and the middle school coaching staffs are working together to see what we can do via virtual resources to connect with and have some fun together. You can signup for cross country camp using this link.

Regarding summer conditioning group runs, we will still meet at VCHS on MWF mornings for group runs starting July 20th. The July runs are rain or shine meaning we run no matter what. In the event of inclement weather, we will run inside the high school. The times for these runs are still TBD and will be announced via remind and social media. Make sure you start running on your own or in small groups no later than June 1st. The summer running program can be found here. You can log your summer miles here and be in the running for summer mileage t-shirts: 150 mile run club, 200 mile run club, 250 mile run club. In order to earn a shirt, miles will be added up from June 1st to August 1st and you must record your miles on the mileage log. 1/2
